This is much better than the average lager. It has some hops, it deserves much more than its current score.

2.8 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
"not your average average beer, though that’s what my score indicates. instead of being average throughout, there’s aspects i liked, and aspects that i didn’t. like-cool sweet malt aroma, creamy feel and flavor with a nice tasty finish of mostly roasted and sweet malt. didn’t like-alcohol being evident at 5%, little to no depth. the look was the only thing average here, but overall, an average brew."

2.4 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 9/20
Coffee overtones, lingering alcohol flavor left on the tongue, carbonation is good, but the back end flavor is a little flat

2.1 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 9/20
This schwarzbier comes off like a malt liquor, minus the alcohol. None of the roast grain, coffee type bitterness, just malt, malt, malt. Appearance is also a muddy brown, not black. Terrible representation of the style.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle from The Beer Cellar April 2014. Quite a dark beer with some good smokey aromas that carry over into the flavour.

Poured from bottle into pint glass
Appearance – Pours a deep amber brown color with a two finger off white head. The head has a nice level of retention, but eventually fades to give a moderate level of lacing.
Smell – The aroma is heaviest of a roasted malt. Mixed with this are notes of a caramel sweetness as well as some molasses and notes of a more earthy hop smell.
Taste – A sweet taste of a brown sugar and caramel taste greet the tongue. A moderate roasted malt taste complements the sweet tastes well, and creates a base for the beer throughout the taste. More in the middle a lighter earthy flavor comes to the tongue. While light, it creates a much more balanced flavor overall. In the end the sweetness intensifies a bit. While the sweetness is mainly brown sugar in nature some flavors of a lighter fruit also grow in. At the end, a sweeter but pleasant roasted and lightly earthy flavor are left to linger on the tongue.
Mouthfeel – The body of the beer is on the average side in terms of creaminess with a carbonation level that is just below to average in intensity. The moderate body is good for both the sweet and roasty flavors with the carbonation level making it quite easy drinking. It is very nice for the style and flavors.
Overall – Good tasting and very easy drinking. This makes for one tasty session beer.

2.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 1/5 OVERALL 11/20
Pours a light brown color, clear, topped with a decent off white head.
The aroma is slightly biscuity, roasted malts.
The taste is sweet, caramel notes, with little bitterness in the finish. Slightly unpleasant aftertaste, metallic, burnt. Would be very nice without that aftertaste.

3.1 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
12oz Bottle at the Public House inside the Venetian, Las Vegas on 4th July 2014. Slight haze to my brew, no head but very ’fizzy’. I thought this strange and almost interesting, it seemed to have a sour initial taste that became caramel sweet in the finish. My first US brewed black lager (I think).
