Fair candied malt flavour to start, caramel, and almonds in the middle, and some hops in the background. Well balanced, light bodied, sweet with a nice bitter finish. Decent offering, and a new state! Woo hoo! NYHarvey (2154), New York, New York, USA

Good malt profile and a nice mildy sweet carmel finish. Could be a touch roastier and more bitter in the fore, but still decent beer. This is one of the first micros I ever had. | 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Jun 26, 2005 Dry, raspy, and dusty. Coffee ground malt with a dry bitterness. Some caramel malt, too. Light nut and cola taste. Mostexcellent (5), USA does not count | 1.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 3/10 | 2/5 | 2/10 | 2/5 | 8/20 | Jun 20, 2005 Eh. Perhaps more famed for its reviling by Southern fundamentalist Christians, this is an overrated brew ... like drinking flat Coke, really. Avoid. | 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Jun 17, 2005 This beer is all about being in the right place at the right time. Enjoyed best at a crawfish boil or with Cajun food; otherwise, it won’t be as good. Flavors range from weak chicory to a roasted malt, sprinkled with vanilla and bitter hops. Finishes like a strong, bitter coffee. L’essez le bon temps roulet! biz82 (1328), austin, Texas, USA
| 2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 3/10 | 3/5 | 5/20 | Jun 15, 2005 Not quite clear and very dark brown with a little creamy head. Cocoa, vanilla nut aroma. Flavor is a little off. A bit sour. Underlying body is not bad. Overlaying flavor sucks. I believe this beer is made in NO for the western half of the US and is contract brewed on the east coast for the east. Having been the the NO’s brewery, I think I would rather drink the contracted product. I wonder if the ratings reflect a difference of quality? bigrond (1055), factoryville, Pennsylvania, USA
