Brutal aroma of sheer butyric acid. Something has gone very wrong here. It’s hard to say if the fault derives from the brewing process or if it was left in a boiling hot container while being shipped overseas. However with brewers that don’t stamp a bottling date I have no mercy, and add my rating anyway. mongkut4 (132), Florida, USA

Unfortunately I have horrible visions of unfiltered Mississippi River water going into the mix. JonMoore (1562), Loughborough, Leicestershire, England
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Jul 28, 2004 Bottle. Very dark brown/black coloured beer, with little head and some light lacing. Malt and caramel aroma. Quite a foamy mouthfeel, but a bit thin at the end. Chocolate and malt in the taste, dry, slightly sour finish. Not bad. hershiser2 (923), Charlottesville, Virginia, USA
| 2.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 10/20 | Jul 26, 2004 Very average beer all around. I was not impressed nor sickened by this brew. Deeper brownish... not much of a head. Malty aroma. Flavor is lacking- kinda malty, but nothing in there, really. chriso (4852), London, Greater London, England
| 2.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 11/20 | Jul 4, 2004 Very deep, ruddy brown colour. Modest beige head. Subdues yeasty malt aroma with traces of bitter chocolate, but nothing too forceful. Not much body or flavour. There’s a flinty acidity on the palate and faint burnt malt and caramel but, again, nothing very compelling. Rather sharp finish with a metallic edge in the aftertaste. Overall, I found this drinkable, but not altogether engaging. 355ml bottle from beersofeurope.co.uk. No BBE date.

| 2.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 3/10 | 5/5 | 3/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Jun 30, 2004 Lager? No. Schwarzbier? Perhaps. Pours a deep garnet with a tan, foamy head. Nose is faint. Hints of malt and caramel. Not very distinct. Mouthfeel was lightly carbonated, smooth, medium bodied. Flavor was nondescript. Perhaps some raisins. Terminus (1955), Las Cruces, New Mexico, USA

| 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Jun 19, 2004 Dark light headed beer with a very light aroma and a watery slightly dry flavour. Overall I was expecting a sweeter beer, so overall disappointing.
