This beer isn’t just for dark beer lovers. My wife despises the darker varieties but loves this one. Not a real serious challenge to the big boys, but it ain’t no slouch!

Deep mahogany with a quick head and a nutty yeasty aroma, hinting at hops. I couldn’t get past the metallic, yeasty flavor. Almsot nutty, but who cares when it tastes like someone dropped a screwdriver in your beer. Yuck.

Black, but a nice reddish where light shines through, pours to a creamy head. Other than a very mild fruity/berry smell there isn’t much aroma. Very light mouthfeel, borderline watery, with yeast and malty tastes pervading. A light burnt feeling comes before a slightly tangy aftertaste, and a very, very light metal taste as well. Still an interesting lager, and very tastey at that.

Great-looking, distinctively flavored brew that makes a good immediate impression. Interesting combination of stout-like coloring, light body, and robust taste. Love the label design, too. All in all, a nicely jazzed-up American lager. (It goes great with a bucket of cold shrimp!)

Indra (2361) - Overland Park, Kansas, USA - JUL 7, 2001
UPDATED: JUL 2, 2003 Roasty malt aroma, some faint hop. Deep dark brown in color, fading head. Malty, bready, and lightly sweet flavor, hop bitterness and flavor starts to show on the finish. A little watery and thin.

boto (1581) - Granby, Connecticut, USA - JUN 24, 2001
UPDATED: DEC 21, 2003 Bottle: The beer poured a dark mahogany color. There was a small tan head. Very minimal lacing. There is a decent malt sweetness to the nose. Fairly sweet taste. A good compliment to many of the New Orleans sytle dishes. A good beer.

This is great beer! Black as night, yet with a mellow, malty flavor that belies it’s stout like consistency.

So dark you’d think its stout, good sweet finish, and overall and excellent beer
