Re-Rate 07/18/02: Deep garnet in color, adequate beige head and fair lace. Nose is malt, hints of caramel. Front is malt and lightly sweet, the top light, the finish is dry, acidic, lightly hopped and a drinkable beer, decent but not great.

Bottle. Wonderful color, sort of a deep blackened red. A sweet malty aroma with some caramel and spicy fruit touches. Medium bodied and smooth but not much flavor (caramel. Seems like a great beer to chase the spicy demons of cajun food.

This beer’s name and appearance are very deceiving. I was not sure what to expect as I took my first sip and was completely taken by surprise with the blandness of this beer. It pours very dark ruby and with a name like Blackened Voodoo I was expecting some real in-your-face flavors.

Good chocolate and molasses…Good malt presence…Memories of celebrating the new millennium in downtown New Orleans…And drinking a lot of this in an 18th(?) century pub…

This beer poured a very dark amber color. It formed a light tan head that left some lace. The aroma was of herb and malt. The flavor was of malt and some herb. The overall finish was a touch bitter. I found the body to be a bit weak. Really not a lot that impressed me with this one.

The best of the Dixie line of beers, nice color and roasted flavor. Not a ’smash your tastebuds’ dark, bitter flavor, but great with very spicy food.

Seems a little sweet for a Schwarzbier. Not bad though roasted malt, some hop bite.

Nothing special, but enjoyable to drink casually. Tasty finish.

This beer is weird, I had trouble fingering much of anything in the taste. The color was dark ruby red. The aroma was sweet, fruit...cotton candy? Crisp like a lager, but very dark and somewhat strong for a lager as well...nice finish, subtle hops...not bad. instant update: as I was finishing the beer, I realized that it is strongly reminiscent of a shiner winter ale...a bit more crisp though...flavor is very similar....this is why the division of ales and lagers can be so goddamn fucken fucked up sometimes.

Rather unique. Nice smell...lemon, mangoes? The taste is sweet and medium to full bodied, but nothing really registers. Strange, not sure what to think. Handsome dark appearance, nice head.
