UPDATED: SEP 23, 2009 Tea brown body with a thin, short lived foam. The aroma is dominated by bubblegum and cheap milk chocolate. The flavor is also of bubblegum, dark fruit, chocolate and slight caramel. Very smooth texture with a nice level of carbonation. This is almost like a lager/English ale hybrid.

Somewhat of a letdown. Somewhat bland for a dark beer with a bit of aftertaste that was not the most appleasing.

Good taste, I thought it went down very smooth. Love the label. Hard to find as it is not a bigger seller.

Not bad. It has a very good flavor, and is easy drinking. Not much body or complexity though. Good for a lager though.

Schwarzbier??? Vaguely dark tasting lager. Very weak hop aroma and not much in either the the hop or maltiness categories.

UPDATED: FEB 17, 2003 Years ago this used to be one of my favorite beers. Now I find it a bit thin, and the bitter aftertaste could be mellower.

A nice, dark, robust drink that works in small doses while slightly warmed. It is enticing in its maltiness and warming in its sweet delivery.

Well obviously they stole the body to make a zombie because the taste is OK but there’s zilch behind it. An undead beer ... without life.

I wasn’t expecting much, despite this being Dixie’s highest rated brew. Hmmm... too thin and damp (not crisp) to be good or feel authentic for me. While there are no glaring errors, there’s nothing that compelling either.
