I bought this beer at my local pub, because the first thought that ran threw my mind was ’What the hell is a Blackened Voodoo?’ Well I soon found out that it was a middle of the road type brew if even that, and that I think the name is made to draw you in to a bad beer! One Was enough because I really just did not care for it!

Bought this beer on a whim. It’s a smooth malty brew, but doesn’t taste like something called blackened vodoo should. Not bad overall.

very malty. very low hop flavor. not much carbonation. much smoother than i expected, but after the second bottle i was ready for a change - just got too malty/sweet. could use some roasting!

Hoppy, molasses nose. Virtually no head, but good carbonation. Dry-hoppy, patent malt, acidic and dry. Good beer, but by no means worth the (ahem) $8.99 asked for it at the local chain liquor store. Lousy label.

For all its color it leaves a little to be desired. Years ago it was a favorite of mine, now it leaves quite a bit to hope for.

Dark beer my fanny. None of the richness or kick you’d expect. Basically a serviceable lager with some dark food coloring. OK, there are some roasted malts and caramel in the taste, but it’s just not very impressive.

UPDATED: DEC 23, 2004 Smooth and easy drinking, nothing special. Not enough flavor for a Schwarzbier, could use more chocolate malt and malt in general. Definitely clean tasting as a lager should be but a bit too thin to be impressive. Re-rate: there’s a certain unpleasant sourness in this that I don’t enjoy.

UPDATED: SEP 23, 2009 Tea brown body with a thin, short lived foam. The aroma is dominated by bubblegum and cheap milk chocolate. The flavor is also of bubblegum, dark fruit, chocolate and slight caramel. Very smooth texture with a nice level of carbonation. This is almost like a lager/English ale hybrid.

Somewhat of a letdown. Somewhat bland for a dark beer with a bit of aftertaste that was not the most appleasing.
