A rather odd combination of flavors for a lager. Tastes much more like a stout, and I would prefer a good stout to this.

Great for a lager. Aroma is slightly sweet with a hint of raisin. Nice sweet toffee and roasted malts. Smooth and thick for the style, and has some interesting pepper and lemon to it. Grassy and a little hops. Well played.Great red orange color. Tap

Poured from 12 oz bottle a burnt copper with a satisfying slowly fading off-white head. Aroma is malty with a hint of clove. Mouth feel is medium, carbonation is medium, and flavor is sweet carmel, toffee, and smoky malt. A little on the sweeter side, but I have a sweet tooth so no problem there. Carmel slowly fades away to a touch of bitter hops. Very enjoyable beverage!

From a bottle in Aspen. Pours clear copper brown with a thick, frothy beige head. Tastes like burnt malt, nutty, musky grains. Light body and low carbonation. Smells like nutty malt, musky grains, toasted toffee.

Poured from a 12 OZ bottle into a pint glass at the Taco Mac in Douglasville, GA Aroma- Has a pretty good aroma of malt and sweet spice. Appearance- This is a dark brown beer with a small off-white head. Taste-the main flavor is malt with some sweet caramel flavoring tossed in. Palate- this is a light bodied and lightly carbonated beer Overall- I believe I have had this years ago but I remember it tasting different. I then read other comments saying it was now brewed under contract. That makes sense on why it tastes different. I thought it tasted better in the past, but not a bad beer.

Pours a clear, dark amber with reddish highlights and a light tan head of good size that slowly fades. Nose of sweet malt and a little toast. Taste is sweet caramel malt, a hint of black coffee and some light, grassy hops. Not overly complex, more like a lager than a schwarzbier. Not bad. Pleasant and easy to drink.

12oz bottle. No apparent package date. Appearance: Deep amber, slightly hazy, and an off white foam cap. Aroma: Getting some sulfur, followed by some bready, toasted malt Taste: A salty, crystal malt flavor with some toastiness an herbal hop character. Just a hint of roastiness. Mouthfeel: Light to medium mouthfeel with a moderate carbonation Finish: Lingering maltiness and some herbal hop character Overall: If this is supposed to be a schwarzbier/black lager, it’s missing the mark. This is much closer to a Vienna or marzen, but with noticably more crystal malt character. Completely missing that restrained roastiness that is the definition of the style. Not the worst lager I’ve had, but far from the best.
