Pours to a redish orange tint leaving little white head aroma is that of orange and a yeast. Doesn’t linger on palate but taste is malty and tangy

12 oz bottle. It pours a reddish brown color with a large white long lasting head. It has the aroma of chocolate and tobacco. It has a complex array of flavors herbs, earthy & leather. It was well worth trying this beer but it wasn’t one of my favorites.

12 ounce bottle poured into a snifter. Pours a clearer ruby with a beige head of foam that dissipates at a moderate rate. The aroma is grassy, lemony, and doughy. The taste is a little bitter and vegetal. I wouldn’t necessarily consider the taste to be pleasant, but it isn’t awful either. Light to medium body. medium carbonation.

skmikeg (739) - Poway, California, USA - MAR 17, 2014
Pours a reddish brown with a thin tan head which fades to almost nothing. Aroma is of toasted bready malts, ripe fruits, caramel, sweet malts, and some faint smoke. Taste is similar the aroma with the addition of some light grassy hops. Has a medium light body with a semi watery mouthfeel and a slighty bitter, medium, short finish. Overall, a slighty disappointing, below average Schwartzbier that seems pretty light for the style.

Erzengel (1923) - Wuppertal, GERMANY - MAR 15, 2014
Dark chestnut-brown in the glass. The beer starts smooth and malty-sweet - but not too. Highly drinkable. Slightly roasted. The mainpart is smooth, toffee, roasted grains. Not too sweet and nice. The aftertaste is long, malty-sweetish, smooth, slightly roasted toffee.
Nice and easy to drink dark lager --> 12/12/11/11

Pours a cloudy brown with a foamy tan head and lacing. It has a malty, slightly toasty aroma with a similar flavor profile leading to a toasty, sweet finish over a light body. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

First Minhas variety. Rich caramel on the nose and palate. Does not smell or taste like a lager. Great body.
