bottle. average fizzy tan head (good portion lasting) with awesome lacing into sparkling brown body. aromas of slight licorice, caramel, light hops, light chocolate, and light coffee. flavor is bittersweet throughout. long finish duration. dry textured. I will say that I stull enjoyed this brew but when I had it a few years ago I remember it being a more powerful guy.

Jul 26, 2008 Bottle. Haven’t had this in over 10 years. Pours a semi-transparent brown color with a slightly off-white head. Aroma of roasted malts, nuts, and some caramel. Taste is roasted malts, nuts, caramel and a hint of chocolate.

Jul 26, 2008 12 oz. bottle from Greenwood Gourmet Grocery near Crozet, VA. Coffee brown pour with a persistent one finger head. Roasted, nutty malt aroma with some tea-like characteristics. Nutty, roasted malt taste with caramel and tropical fruit notes. Thin body.

Jul 20, 2008 Pours a dark reddish colour with a full tan head. A little muddy, aromas of roasted malts and walnuts. soft coffee and carmel character. otherwise smooth and rich flavors.

Jul 19, 2008 A nice pour into a fluted glass. Good looking tan head with plenty of active carbonation. Amber color beer. A musty malty aroma is joined by a bit of hop. Flavor is roasted and unroasted malt with some yeast. A bit of anise. Very thin feel. Not one to become a staple, but an interesting beer.

Jul 12, 2008 Bottle, at home with renffisch, 25th June 2008. Dark brown with little head, this has a somewhat interesting aroma of manila envelope and some blackcurrant! Tastes like a bland, sweet lager with little weight and a weak finish. Avoid. I should point out that this bottled was marked as being brewed in the EU.
