Ungstrup (11354), Frederiksberg, Denmark Jan 18, 2008 A deep red beer with a slight haze under a huge light tan head. The aroma is very sweet malty with notes of caramel, berries, and fruit. The flavor is very sweet and very malty combined with strong spicy notes - especially cloves, as well as notes of alcohol and caramel. Papsoe (10285), Frederiksberg, Denmark Jan 14, 2008 (Bottle 50 cl) Pours an almost clear, orangey brown with a small, creamy, beige head. Sweetish caramel aroma. Medium body, completely dominated by huge amounts of sweet caramel, some lightly spicy, medicinal notes and a somewhat unrefined, raw bitterness. Not exactly a study in complexity as it is. I’m sure some cellaring will do good to this - perhaps even to doomsday, as the back label suggests. 311207 yespr (6889), Copenhagen O, Denmark Dec 29, 2007 1/2 pint at Lord Nelson. Pours hazy amber with a dense off-white head. Malty and slight hoppy aroma. Flavour is sweet malty with a slight spice note. Quite sweet actually. Has a strange spice note on top of the sweet malt. Ends with a solid bitterness and more of that undefineable herbal/spice note. joergen (6529), Frederiksberg, Denmark Dec 31, 2007 Draught at Lord Nelson.
