Ungstrup (11353), Frederiksberg, Denmark Nov 4, 2007 Bottled. A pitch black beer with a faint brown shine under a huge bubbly dark brown head. The flavor is sweet with strong notes of chocolate, and lighter notes of smoke, as well as hints of vanilla. The flavor is sweet though with an acidic edge from hard roasted malt, combined with strong notes of smoke, hard roasted coffee, and medium notes of dark milk chocolate, leading to a dry somewhat bitter and somewhat smokey finish. Nice body. omhper (10728), Stockholm, Sweden May 15, 2007 Draught at Københavnske Øldage. Very black, small head. Dryish and tarry. Light-medium bodied with clean mouthfeel. Some dark chocolates mixes with salt and tar. Lightly resiny finish. Flavourful, but a bit too clean for me. Papsoe (10267), Frederiksberg, Denmark Dec 18, 2006 (On tap) Opaque black with a small, light brown head. Distinct smoked aroma - but not in a German way, more sort of Scottish with peat and tar. Medium body with very burned malt accents and then again these smoked, peaty accents. Quite bitter and still burned all through to the finish. 011206 yespr (6889), Copenhagen O, Denmark Dec 14, 2007 RB #2400: 50 cL bottle. Pours pitch black and with a mild chocolate brown and lacing head. Hard roasted malt, dark chocolate and slight liquorish aroma. Flavour is roasted malt, dark chocolate and some coffee all blending nicely together. Flavour is lifted at the finish with a fruity and mild bitter hops note.
