COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Editor’s note: Previously brewed by Djævlebryg at Brøckhouse, Hillerød, Denmark.

Danish: Bryggeriet Djævlebryg and the Danish Atheist Society have entered into an unholy alliance and the result is "Godless": This first batch is a somehow accessible imperial stout with its 8.9% abv. It offers burnt notes from the malt mingled with sweet nuances and a warming depth from the alcohol. This brew is primarly aimed at members of the Atheist Society, but it will also be available in selected shops and bars. In these times, when companies are expected to show social responsibility, we in the brewery have decided to follow suit: For each bottle or draft sold we donate 1 Danish Krone to the Danish Atheist Society.

On tap @ Henrik. Lovely deep dark brown, as good as black actually with a big really dense and creamy brown top. It has a strong roasted aroma with lots of licorice and chocolate. It smells really really good this. Fantastic roasted with a strong dark chocolate sweetness. Really notable! Ah.. That’s a really good stout! Loads of roasted goodness with both vanilla and dark salty licorice. Fresh hoppy lingering and the flavor really evolves in the mouth and throat. A really good one! (one hand rating) 19.04.2013

On tap. Black with a beige head. Malty and roasty aroma with dark chocolate, dark fruits, some hoppy notes and hints of coffee and caramel. Medium to full body. Sweet, roasty and chocolaty with a decent bitterness in the finish. A bit on the sweet side, but fairly well balanced. Nice IS!

Bottle. Pours a near-black color with a huge light brown head. Nose has some nice roasting to it with some bitterness underneath. Taste has some nice malty roasting to it, but doesn’t have any of the bitterness the nose implies. Decent, but not great.

BlackIPA (716) - Rochester, New York, USA - MAR 1, 2013
Pours a cola black with a huge, ever building head. Aromas of roast, powdery cocoa, some anise. Taste is very toasty, with a touch of bitterness. Low residual sugar. Some anal leakage, but nowhere near enough rape. Decent.

Svart öl med stort brunt skum. Doft: Kaffe, choklad, fikon, trä, vanilj, romrussin glass, tjära, hav. Smak: Mineraler, choklad, kaffe, citrus, ananas, tjära, vanilj, lakrits. God, men skulle nog vara ännu godare med lite högre söttma.
