3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Pours a dark copper brown with a little beige head. The aroma is mild with a light grainy sweet must. The flavor is more full with an English old ale simplistic nature, a bit of a grainy bite with drying grainy bitter. Smooth overall, easy to drink with lower carbonation, lingering herbal earthy notes with a little touch of sweet dark fruits.

Bottle, 50cl - Semi hazy beer with a large white head. Aroma is malty with notes of spices, caramel, dried fruit and som alcohol. Flavor is malty with notes of toffee, caramel, herbs, some vanilla and a hint of alcohol. Very warming beer and perfect for this time of year. Slight hints of mintyness indicate hopping with Northern Brewer.

3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
On tap at Henrik, Bergen. Has a deep golden mahogny colour with a small beige head. The aroma is roasted and rich and filled with oak, nuts and some roasted almonds. Again roasted malt at first then more dried fruit, wood, leather and some alcohol. The mouthfeel is slick and soft, and has a light bitterness. The aroma is a bit faint but the beer has a powerful flavour with some roastedness inbetween.

50 cl bottle kindly shared by Sigmund. Inch thick cappucino colored creamy head that cover a misty deep orange body. Malty sweet, floral honey notes on the nose. Pungent sweet and malty flavors with a mellow bitterness. Slightly overcarbonated, although it suits the beer. Full bodied. Worked well with blue cheese.

Smells of lovley dark dried fruits, looks amazing, dark and golden, light cream head. Taste is baked plums raisins and a bit of leather? I'm in love with a barley wine, who would have thought that ;)

I agree with the general assessment of this beer. I don’t think it’s really a good example of the prototypical style of English Bitter or Barley Wine. Whatever you want to call it though, it’s one of the best I’ve ever had! This is what I want out of a cold weather beer. Strong, malty, deep, not too bitter. Beautiful aromas of brown butter and caramel and the taste is fantastically balanced. It might not fit neatly into any category, but you need to be drinking this. I am continually impressed by this brewery.
