English: Old Mephisto is a big beer: Full, warming and intense. Old Mephisto offers balanced sweetness, roasted caramel and a rounded bitterness - all held together by the vinous character. The inviting brandy coloured Old Mephisto can be enjoyed with strong cheeses, full game dishes or on its own.

Pours a dark copper brown with a little beige head. The aroma is mild with a light grainy sweet must. The flavor is more full with an English old ale simplistic nature, a bit of a grainy bite with drying grainy bitter. Smooth overall, easy to drink with lower carbonation, lingering herbal earthy notes with a little touch of sweet dark fruits.

Bottle bought at systembolaget late 2011. Beautiful deep clear deep red liquid with a nice compact big off white head. Aroma is spreading in the room. Aroma is of sweet fruits, raisins, lots of caramel and toffee, dates, dark fruits, sugars, bready. Smells amazing! Taste: a nice sweet flavor in there with caramel, milk chocolate and fruits. Perfect level of carbonation. Alcohol is well hidden but still detectable. Really nice flavour. Positively surprised by this one! I think some years in my cellar did this beer good :)

Orange brown color with nary of layer of foam. Sweet malty caramel candy and apple aroma. Nice chewy maltiness layered with dark fruits and molasses. Picking up some nice brandy flavors. Finishes with a crisp hoppy bite that sits on the tongue for a while.

Pours deep hazy ruby with a tight egg shell white head. Aroma is sweet barley, caramel, toffee, floral leather and molasses. Taste is sweet balanced caramel and spicy hops, very grainy. Body is silky smooth, medium/heavy, no abv apparent, long barley grain finish. Overall, pretty good but not as much as I expected.

Pours a deep amber colour, cloudy, with a small tan head. Aroma is full of caramel malt and some slight floral hop scents. Taste is quite sweet with a nice bitterness to it as well. Full bodied, smooth and creamy mouth feel and livelier carbonation. Overall a solid barley wine.

Bottle shared by akevitt. Pours a cloudy, red-amber body with a frothy, yellowish brown head. Aroma of sweet malts, bread, sugars, and prune. Taste is the same but with more dark fruit character. Medium bodied with a smooth mouthfeel. Bitter hop finish with a slightly metallic aftertaste and alcohol burn.

Bottle, pours slightly hazy mahogony with big off white head. Aroma is malty with caramel. Taste is caramel, little bit hoppy, sweet. Nice bitterness. Not mindblowning but still enjoyable.

Bottle. Pours a beautyful dark amber with a smalle creamy head. Aroma of raisins and prunes and it has som viniousity to it. Flavour is again raisins and prunes with a nice viniousity and a dryness in the end. It is very creamy and has a nice palate.

Very quality beer. Rich aroma of plum, dark fruit, bubblegum-esque. Taste like the aroma, sweet caramel dark fruit -- English barley wine-esque. But unlike most English barley wines this one has some dark malt/hop backbone that provides a bit of bitterness to round the taste. I really like this beer.

A nice looking red-brown beer with a small tan head. Aroma is roasty malt, with some sweetness and nutiness. The flavor is sweet caramel malts, molasses, and dried fruit. Deliciously syrupy mouthfeel. Decent, but not the best BW i’ve had.
