Commercial Description:
Old Mephisto is a big beer: Full, warming and intense. Old Mephisto offers balanced sweetness, roasted caramel and a rounded bitterness - all held together by the vinous character. The inviting brandy coloured Old Mephisto can be enjoyed with strong cheeses, full game dishes or on its own.

Dark amber of color with a orange head. An aroma of dark fruits, liqurice, port notes, pines, chocolate and caramel. Very nice aroma! A flavor of pines, caramel, chocolate, raisins, malty and hops.

Draught@EBF 2008. Hazy, copper brown body. Virtually no head. Sweet malty smell. Ashy notes and a faint whiff of earthy hops. Massive malty-sweet flavor with lots of caramel. Spices and mild bittering hops underneath. Chewy mouthfeel. Medium body. Sweet, light spicy and light bitter ending.

On tap at EBF 08. It’s not really their best style. It’s a hoppy sweet barley wine. Bit musty. Not my favourite from this outstanding brewery.

Sampled at EBF08. Dark amber. Small off-white head. Very sweet and smoked aroma. Thick and oily palate. Sweet and malty flavour with a lot of sweet fruits.

Draught@EBF2008. Amber colour, mediumsized beige head, some lace. Aroma is hops, grass, mild wood, cookies and some slight alcoholic sweetness. Flavour is nuts, hops, fruits, yeast and some alcohol. Very well balanced and pleasant.
