4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 16/20
Head and aroma promises strenght and warmth - and the taste sure delivers! Just one complaint: why such big glasses when served on tap? Almost too much. Taste is all strength, warming alcohol, with a bit of zinging burnt malt, butterscotch and port. Palate is almost acid-like in contact with tongue, and yet again concentrated around the alcohol. Overall, alcohol plays a central role in this brew, as in most Barley Wines - but I must say that this is the most enjoyable I’ve had in a long time, despite it’s rawness.

"deep fruits, caramel, plum. little hop presence. masks the abv quite well. low carbonation, and a bit thick, making it a decent sipper. i liked it, bit wasn’t blown away, though another friend thought it was the best of the night."

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Slightly fruity with berries on the nose. The taste is sweet, caramel, slightly fruity and light alcohol. Good bitterness that fills the upper part of the mouth for a long time. Easy to drink and minimal carbonation which appeals to me. Follow me @ Kung av öl @ Facebook for more pictures and ratings.

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Bottle bought at systembolaget late 2011. Beautiful deep clear deep red liquid with a nice compact big off white head. Aroma is spreading in the room. Aroma is of sweet fruits, raisins, lots of caramel and toffee, dates, dark fruits, sugars, bready. Smells amazing! Taste: a nice sweet flavor in there with caramel, milk chocolate and fruits. Perfect level of carbonation. Alcohol is well hidden but still detectable. Really nice flavour. Positively surprised by this one! I think some years in my cellar did this beer good :)

3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Mörka söta toner, kanske lite russin. Fyllig mikrofonen, ABVn lyser igen lite. Balans i smaken, beska och alkohol i eftersmaken.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20

2.2 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 6/20
Lätt koralartad ton i en tämligen svag arom.
Kolasirap i färg. Vacker. Stadigt ljust skum.
Vattning, vinös smak och en kemisk sötma. En varmt mjuk beska stiger sakta i eftersmaken.

Backlog. Slightly too sweet for my taste, but definitely a decent example of the style.

3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 11/20
12 % ABV stated on the bottle.
Ar: sweet, malty, caramel, butterscotch, alcohol, vanilla, earthy hops, grass, jam, honey, dried dark fruit
Ap: slightly hazy copper/ruby colour, weak bubbly beige head.
T: heavy sweetness, very low bitterness, ABV well integrated, slightly vinous, but that’s about it no real complexity to the taste, sort of one-dimensional.
P: full bodied, low carbonation, warming finish.

3.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 16/20
UPDATED: MAR 15, 2014 Clear, dark amber. Small, offwhite head. Aroma of raisins, dark yeast, alcohol. Mouthfeel is thick and creamy. Taste is discretely vinous, some dried fruit, not too boozy, not too sweet.

2.4 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20
Bottle from BarleyWine, Copenhagen (batch OM001). Virtually no head. Body is dark amber. Aroma is moderately malty (molasses, malt syrup), moderately yeasty (dough, sweat), with notes of alcohol, brown sugar. Flavor is heavily sweet, lightly acidic, lightly bitter. Finish is moderately sweet, lightly acidic, lightly to moderately bitter. Medium body, syrupy texture, soft/flat carbonation, moderately to heavily alcoholic. Another dumper from Djaevlebryg, doggone it. Lots of raw yeast, various sugar aromas, and not much else. As consistently awesome as Gudelos is, they sure do have some shitty beers in their lineup.
