Bottle. Dark golden colour with an off-white head. Aroma: Nutty malt, herbal/floral hops, sweetness, dried fruits, apple. Flavor: Nutty, herbal/floral hops, caramel, dried fruit, sweetness, grass, grape, alcohol. Bitter finish. Malty and rather different because of the hops, but not bad at all.

Bottle. Cloudy orange color, aroma of apricot. Flavour is kind of boozy and sweet with some bitter pine. Ok, but a little disappointing. I’m starting to think this whole British DIPA thing isn’t such a great idea. Seems like classic British hops have some problems standing up to these levels of alcohol. Perhaps with some aging it’ll work better as a Barley Wine. On the other hand, I did like it a whole lot better on tap, if I remember correctly.

500ml bottle. Pours a slightly cloudy medium orange, with a white head. The aroma is fruity and hoppy, with lots of passion fruit and mango, citrus, blood grape, yeast, earth, and as it warms up, a sticky, cornish note. Off-dry, medium to full bodied, high bitterness, creamy CO2. Hoppy, spicy taste, again passion fruit and mangoes, grape fruit, spruce, yeast. The further down the bottle I get, the more it gets sweet and sticky, with a cloying, almost DMS-like roughness. I expected more of this. (2011-08-11)

As a DIPA this doesn’t really work for me. Pours light golden amber, hazy and with a big head. Aroma is sweet with chocolate, caramel malt and just a touch of citrus. It’s a bit funky and reminds me more of e.g. a barley wine... Taste has a bit more of a hoppy feel to it, with medium bitterness but also quite some sweetness from the malt. I don’t know if it’s the english hops (most likely it is), but it’s not very good at what it’s supposed to be. That said, it’s still an alright beer.

Bottle 50 cl, SB. Pours beautiful copper orange with a big creamy beige head leaving nice lace. Aroma is very malty, seet, caramel, hoppy, citric, fruity and hay. Crispy and fruity mouthfeel. Flavor is bitter, citric, hoppy, acidy, malty, fruity and pungeant. Finishes with a nice fruity and piny bitter aftertaste.

Bottle. Hazy copper with a large and creamy head. Malt, caramel, citrus and something sweet in the aroma and taste, also some hops but not that much. Not that bitter, a soft "British" DIPA. Drinkable but I prefer the more hoppy ones.

pilsnerrogge (2142) - Finspång, SWEDEN - AUG 8, 2011
Bottled:
Pours a hazy amber colour with a frothy head. Aroma is sweet and malty with notes of marzipan and honey; it smells like a Bock! Malty flavour with some notes of pine, resin, oranges and dusty hops. This is not a bad beer in any way, but it’s not quite what I expected.

500 ml bottle from Systembolaget. Hazy, orange/light amber liquid with medium to big, thick off-white head. Aroma of pine, citrus, candy, vanilla, peaches light caramel malt and earthy and grassy hops. Taste is maltier than the aroma with notes of biscuits, coffee and light smoke. Medium bitter and light sweetness. Feels quite dry though. Medium bodied with ok carbonation and a bit boozy feel. A bit different than most DIPAs considering the brittish approach. The taste is a bit weird but overall I quite liked it.
