COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Editor’s note: Brewed by Djævlebryg at Brøckhouse, Hillerød, Denmark.

Danish: I 2009 fejres Charles Darwins 200-års fødselsdag og 150-året for udgivelsen af "On the Origin of Species".

This is my favorite beer of all times. I’ve been drinking hundreds of bottles of this one in the past couple of years. :) Brownish-amber color, medium head, very hoppy and malty. The fruity bitterness and very long bitter aftertaste is really good. Full body and thick with a very long finish.

Pours a wonderful hazy deep orange with a big, off-white head. Damn this beer looks nice. Nose is complex and very fruity: vanilla, strawberry, raspberry, hints of grassy licorice. Taste is equally complex, with much of the same aromas re-appearing on my palate. In addition, a very elegant twist in the taste development makes a loop in the palate towards the end, filled with molasses and hints of cinnamon. Delicious. Moderately bitter and lingering finish. Mouthfeel is filling, as a double IPA should have it, and despite the relatively light ABV the OriginAle is as satisfying taste-wise as most of its other, higher alcohol genre colleagues. This is a real American style DIPA, fruity and bitter at the same time. Very solid.

Bottle 0,5 l. Murky brown, big beige head, looks damn appealing. Nose has hops, pine, barnyard, malts, forest, earth, maybe some cellar. Flavor is intense, piney hops, big malty background. Very very nice, a real delight. Easy to drink despite the high alc. Smooth carb with big body.

Bottle from Ølbutikken. Glowing ruby and gold. Full flavour, long lingering finish. Lovely interplay between malt and grassy/flowery hops. Worthy of a tribute to Darwin!

Bottle - Thanks, Eric! Deep dark amber color with a hazy body, huge fluffy head. Big caramelly, malty middle that fills the mouth, but it gets quickly overpowered by a huge broad hop wallop. Bam! -- this hits you in the face with hops. Somewhat rough and even gritty mouth feel. The high alcohol intensifies all the flavors (and it warms the throat going down, too). There’s no hiding from this beer. For a hophead like me, this stuff is gold particularly in N. Europe. You’d think you were in Oregon or something. Wish I could get it more often.

Bottle (50 Cl) from Systembolaget. Clear deep amber, medium off-white head. Floral and herbal noble hop aroma, with a bready malt background. Meidum bodied, medium carbonation. Dry with high bitterness. Great stuff.
