Draught @ Bishops Arms Örebro. Pours hazy golden with a very small white head that quickly dissipates without leaving any trace on the glass. Smell is very sweet and malty with caramel, honey, sweet dark bread, golden syrup and hints of grass and orange zest. Taste is sweet and slightly bitter with caramel, honey, orange peal, grass, pine, sweet bread, overripe plums, mango and pineapple and hints of metal. Mouthfeel is round, sticky sweet and medium to full bodied. Finish is sweet and bitter with bread, honey, grass and orange peal. I remember pouring this down the drain the first time I tried it about a year ago. Found it incredibly sweet and not at all good. This time I wanted to give the beer another chance and was more prepared for the sweetness. It’s still not my kind of IIPA but it’s still a pretty good beer.

Bottle: Poured a deep golden/beige color ale with a large foamy head with good retention and some good lacing. Aroma of bitter and pine hops is pleasant. Taste is a mix between hoppy notes with resin flavour and some dry caramel malt with a bit too much residual sugar for the style. Body is quite full with good carbonation and no apparent alcohol. Not bad overall but lacking some floral hoppy notes and somewhat too sweet for the style.

Amberish colour with big head. Aroima is british hops. Flavour is also not that hoppy. Decent IPA.

This is my favorite beer of all times. I’ve been drinking hundreds of bottles of this one in the past couple of years. :) Brownish-amber color, medium head, very hoppy and malty. The fruity bitterness and very long bitter aftertaste is really good. Full body and thick with a very long finish.

50 cl bottle from Bieropholie, served at cellar temperature in a tulip glass. BB 29.05.12.

App.: Clear deep golden with a decent yellowish-white foam. Aroma: Quite a lot of cereals and grains, cloying sweetness, quite fruity, oddly perfumed, maybe a little floral, sorta woodsy, I don’t really have a good lexicon for British hops and malts. Palate: Medium+ body, slick/syrupy, restrained effervescence. Flav.: Booze, lots of booze, cereals/grains, oddly sweet and perfumed, kinda like a malt liquor with a lot of British hops (to me), woodsy, thick, slightly cloying, really different; slightly hot alcohol, sweet and quite bitter, with a long, lingering, syrupy hop/malt finish.

If given the opportunity again, I would not naturally select this.

My Bottom Line:
Rich barley sugar grounds citrusy hops and their bitter resins for a frothy, raw, Barley Wine-like strong ale.

Further Personal Perceptions:
-There is ample foam atop the hazy orange, producing plenty of lacing.
-Cereals are lightly caramelized.
-The frothy natural carbonation sculpts a great mouthfeel for a sipper.
-If you want a super hoppy Double IPA, this one’s going to be disappointing.
-The flavors are extremely well defined, but the total package is still quite enjoyable.

Bottle.

500ml bottle, honey gold color, with a thick bubbly white head, leaving some laces, nice earthy honeyed grainy pale, toasted, biscuity malt, green vegetal floral grassy hop nose, with a mild honey lollipop, faint stewed apple yeastiness accent, with a lemon, grapefruit rind, wet straw note in the aroma follows through on a medium-bodied palate with a sweet earthy honeyish grainy toasted, pale, munich malt, light fruity candied lemon marmalade yeasty character, with some mild vegetal flowery grassy, leafy, grapefruit peel flavors, with a faint minty leafiness, lemon lollipop backbone, leading towards a warming honeyish maltiness, soft candied lemon, grapefruit peel, light lingering minty, leafy hop bitterness finish.

Bottle 50cl. A light hazy range-amber colour with a small, off-white head. An aroma of malt, caramel, grapefruit and orange. The taste is medium sweet and light bitter. A medium body, oily texture, soft carbonation and a medium long duration.
