500mL bottle, BB 11/27/08. Poured deep brown with a short, well-retained yellowy-beige head. The aroma picked up burnt ashy, smoky black patent malts joined by toast, molasses, and a hint of vanilla bean.. peppery alcohol prickled the back of the nose.. not bad, but the malt bill didn’t seem greatly interesting or complex. The flavor opened with peppery alcohol, with burnt black patent and baker’s chocolate behind.. toast, treacle, and vanilla showed up at times.. mild oxidation, dry-roasted malts, and alcohol warmth on the long finish.. tasty stuff! Medium-bodied, dry, and very roasty on the palate.. enough rolling carbonation to keep it moving.. this came together very well.
4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 Rettep (895) - SWEDEN - OCT 19, 2011
Draught.
Black with a porous tan head that dissolves into a ring.
Aroma is very nice: chocolate (mousse?), fruits, creamy.
Taste: chocolate mousse, cream, licorice, some honey, well concealed alcohol.
Full-bodied, smooth, some sharp bubbles at first.
Very nice and balanced, feels lighter than 10.5%.

500 ml bottle from Dany. Pours dark brown/black in color with a medium sized beige head. The aroma has roasted malts, molasses, earthy and resiny hops and some dark fruits. The flavor is rather complex with roasted malts, molasses, figs, berries, chocolate, resiny hops with a touch of alcohol. I enjoyed this one quite a bit.
3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 Tmoney99 (6882) - Cincinnati, Ohio, USA - JUL 6, 2011
Bottle shared by alexsdad06. Poured a black color with an average frothy brown head that lasted with good lacing. Moderate to heavy roasted chocolate malt, dark fruit and floral aroma. Medium to heavy sweet dark fruit flavor with a medium to heavy sweet finish of moderate to long duration. Medium to full body with a smooth texture and flat carbonation. This is a very good beer.
