COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Editor’s note: Previously brewed by Djævlebryg at Brøckhouse, Hillerød, Denmark.

English: This beer is worthy of the Dark Lord. In both smell and taste it is a true orgy of the senses: Burnt, bitter and sweet. Savory and warming, full bodied and complex. Pride of Nekron is simply put a majestic meal in itself.

Pours a pitch black colour with a nice big brown head. Chocolate, syrup and coffee on the nose. The flavour is medium sweet with roasted malt and licorice. Medium bodied with a well-hidden ABV of 10,5 %. Mouthfeel is warming with a bitter finish. Excellent brew by the likes of DH1 and DH2.

500 ml bottle, from Voldby Købmandsgård. ABV is 10.5%. Black colour, big to moderate brown head. Lovely roasty aroma, notes of roasted barley, coffee and dark chocolate, hints of dark syrup and liquorice. The flavour is intensely sweet and roasty, strong notes of dark syrup and brown sugar, dark malts, coffee, raisins and dark chocolate. Warming mouthfeel. Moderately bitter aftertaste. Good, but a bit too far out on the sweet and syrupy side.

Pours a pitch black color with a thin light brown head. The aroma is sweet, with anise, chocolate and roasted malt. Good flavor of anise, chocolate and roasted malt. The body is light to medium with a syrupy texture and soft carbonation. Very good.

(Old BA rate - bottle) Pours nearly jet black, and you can tell there is a certain viscosity to the liquid; topped off with a finger of darker tan head that doesn’t last too long, but does settle and leave a thinner film. The aroma is not all that powerful, but certainly pleasant with some lighter coffee, light roasted malts, and quite a good deal of chocolate. The roastiness really comes into play in the taste. Definite hints of coffee and I get a fair amount of sweeter chocolate; not really much of a hop presence to note, but certainly lacks an overwhelming sweetness which is really great. Medium to thicker body with some prickly carbonation; substantial. Obvious sipping brew, and really well-made. Balanced quite well, and pleasantly warming. Good stuff.

On Tap at TAP 1, Copenhagen 07/05/2010 Chocolate and hop aromas. Beige head. Black fruity and a little rich on the palate with a bitter and slightly dry coffee roast finish.

Copenhagen Beer Festival 2010 - Very dark brown, almost black in colour. Malty and fruity aroma with dried fruit, chocolate, coffee and marzipan. Roasted taste with coffee, chocolate and some vinous hints.

Black as death, nice brown head. Aroma of heavily burnt malts, toffee, espresso, and bananas. First sip like heaven. Very dark - chocolate, espresso, maybe a little banana in the sweetness. Very sweet, some bitterness. Very filling. Very full body, low carbonation, fairly long finish. A fantastic beer experience, just a little too sweet for me.
