Bottle from Ølbutikken , CPH. Pours black with a big beige creamy head. Aroma of dark chocolate and hard roasted coffee, promising, also a whiff of ammonia liquorice. Taste is first and foremost thick lovely liquorice, some roasted coffee. Aftertaste is lingering dark malty caramell. Thick and oily mouthfeel. A good beer for a long night

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
50cl bottle pours an oily, opaque black with a creamy, tan head. Nose is chocolate, cherries, bread, fruity, brown sugar. Flavor is sweet, brown sugar, malty, light coffee, light molasses, fruity. Full bodied, but smooth. The best of the Nekron series.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 14/20
500mL thanks to CaptainCougar. Poured a deep brune with an excellent tan head with good retention and lace. Aroma is heavy raisin, plum, spicy alcohol, cinnamon. Taste is void of olive brine that plagues most imperial stouts and has in its stead cocoa butter, dark fruits, intense vanilla, chocolate milkshake, light buttery bourbon notes. Really outstanding palate: soft, slick, oily. Mostly dark fruit forward instead of char and roast. My favorite of the three Nekron beers.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle. It’s black with a reddish hue, topped by a small, tan head. Hints of cooked vegetables on the nose, but mostly roasted malts, chocolate, coffee and some molasses. Alcohol notes too. The flavor doesn’t have the veggies found in the aroma, and has a nice hoppy bitterness, else it’s the same dark maltyness. Chocolate, coffee, roasted malts and molasses. And some alcohol warmth, but not much. Full body. Roasted, chocolate finish. I wish it didn’t have that touch of DMS in the aroma, else it’s a pretty lovely imperial stout, one I sure would like to revisit. 100917
