COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Dock Street and Brasserie Thiriez team up to develop a special, limited edition Saison. Brewers Scott Morrison and Daniel Thiriez brewed the beer at Dock Street at the end of June- marking it the first brewing collaboration between a US and French brewery in America. Daniel Thiriez, owner and brewer at Brasserie Thiriez in Esquelbec, France, is known in the industry for his Saison and Biere de Garde styles. Dock Street Brewer Scott Morrison, also known for his own Saison style, worked with Daniel to combine their signature approaches to develop La Biere des Amis – ‘the beer of friends.’ Sharing a similar brewing philosophy, Thiriez and Morrison created a beer that equally defines their personalities. “Daniel makes some of my favorite beer in the world, and I always thought it’d be awesome to do a collaboration. Dock Street was very open to the idea and Daniel was excited to brew here. It all just fell into place,” said Scott Morrison. La Biere des Amis is a full flavored beer that is made with German pilsner and wheat malts. It exhibits a clean, hop character and refined bitterness from Mt. Hood and Nugget hops.

Yellow with a white head. The aroma is full of pine and orange with some yeast and biscuit malt. The flavor is very similar. I get a good bit of hop character including some pine and orange. There is also some biscuit malt, Belgian yeast, lemons and grass. Medium mouthfeel and medium carbonation.

750 ml capped thick glass noggin-lnocker bottle from Blue Dog Lansdale. Pours turbid canary golden with frothy white head. Nose is great; limey citrus, big coriander spices, florals, and hops. Tastes complex, with limey citrus and florals up front, spices and hops at mid-palate, and an overall dryness and fruity tartness that is very refreshing and very delicious. This is a worthy GABF silver medaler, and is an outstanding example of this style. The dude abides.

On tap at Dock Street. Nice aroma of tripel yeasty or saison spicy funk. Light hop notes. Medium yellow in color with thin white lacing head. Medium watery body with high carbonation. Starts medium dry with a bit of estery fruity character. Nice bittering throughout with mild carbonic bite. Medium to big bitter finish with lasting bitter after.

25.4 oz bottle. Misty gold with a sudsy white head. Nose is yeast, grain, clover, honey, lemon and banana custard. Soft, subtle; very nice. Crisp and bubbly with a creamy center. Finishes dry with some resin. Taste is lemon chiffon, grass, wheat and citrus peel. I’m thinking this would pair beautifully with some lamb chops.
