COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This brown porter was brewed with ‘old-world’ style in mind. Black and chocolate malts create its deep mahogany appearance and creamy nutty flavor. A blend of American Centennial and English Fuggles hops lends a delicate hop presence.

On tap at Dock Street. Dark brown, near black body, moderate size khaki head, and spotty lacing. Nose shows some toasted and roasted malts, with some chocolate, earthy bitterness, and faint dark fruits. Flavor is similar, with a semi-sweet vibe. Medium to full bodied, gentle carbonation, dry, lightly bitter. Respectable.

On tap at the brewpub. Deep mahogany with a cream head; milk chocolate aroma; dry with red fruit flavours as well as chocolate from the malts, and an earthy bitterness from the English hops, then finishing rather sweeter. A rather good porter.

Deep brown in color, nutty taste with slight hops to help balance the malt. Decent porter because it’s not paint by numbers style one.

The owner said that my tasting glass did not do justice to this beer, so she poured me a hefty amount in a wine glass. She was right - it’s a beautiful beer, and the head doesn’t fully develop in the little sampler glasses. Deep ruby brown color, thick beige head with good retention. Aroma of light coffee and milk chocolate. Taste is similar. Very nice.

16oz draft @ Dock St. Pours black wit caramel accents with a creamy beige ’nitro’ head with great retention. Nose is pretty faint, I pick up a bit of roast. First sip brings forward roasty malts, fruity ale yeast and floral English hops. As it warms, a bit of coffee with cream emerges. A very solid English porter that doesn’t get enough praise in the area.

Draught at Whole Foods Devon: Aroma of malt, roast, chocolate, and some nuts. Poured very deep brown/very deep amber in color with a small, creamy, tan head, mainly around the edges. Clear. Lightly sparkling. Small lacing. Flavor is lightly sweet. Tastes of malt, chocolate, nuts, and a hint of hops. Medium body. Slightly dry texture. Average carbonation. Chocolate and malt finish.
