3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 Travlr (5390) - Washington, USA - DEC 11, 2011
Draft at the source. Hazy golden color, small white head, good lacing. Aroma of pure caramel, taste is similar, with subtle lemon. I would not guess that this is a saison, too sweet and strong, not enough funk. Still a tasty beer though.
3.5 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 Beerathon (78) - Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, USA - APR 1, 2012
This beer is dangerous because of its ABV, but it’s not very detectable in the taste. Nice fruity/spicy blend of hops. Very enjoyable. Deep gold in color, thin white head.

From the tap poured a copper color with a fair amount of head. Hoppy spicy flavor with a quick finish.
3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 Beerlando (3324) - Orlando, Florida, USA - FEB 27, 2012
750ml bottle, dated November 17, 2011. The pour yields a Mostly clear, very lightly hazy dark orange amber hue. A short, smooth head of off-white to beige foam settles to a swirly film, leaving scattered, wet spotting on the glass. The nose is based in malty notes of baking bread and sweet golden raisin, with hints of crisp, fruity acidity and a dry, slightly pungent Belgian yeast. Floral, citrusy hops balance it out nicely, as does a nice blast of dusty white pepper. Flavors follow suit, well balanced between the sweeter raisin bread notes and the biting, peppery, citrus-based hops. Yeast is dusty and dry, which is welcomed in such a big brew. The palate is predictably quite substantive, laden with hefty sugars, yet decently attenuated for a 10 percenter. It’s smooth up front and drying on the back end, with fine carbonation. Overall, pretty solid example of a style (strong Belgian golden ale) I rarely enjoy.
4.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20 HopBackDoc (473) - Hatboro, Pennsylvania, USA - JAN 1, 2012
Pours a deep golden color with foamy head. Nose full of yeast, spice and floral notes. Flavor was fruity, peppery, hoppy, yeasty, and anything else that ends in a "y"! Lasting finish. This beer just kept getting better as I drank it, not just because of the 10%ABV either!
3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 DeputyAndy (466) - Ambler, Pennsylvania, USA - NOV 23, 2011
Draft at Iron Abbey with Ann, James, and Linh. Straw yellow pour with a little head. Aroma is peppery and slightly lemon. Body is thin, not very quenching, and disappointing.
2.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 11/20 jredmond (2827) - Manhattan, New York, USA - NOV 22, 2011
UPDATED: NOV 27, 2011 Draft at the Iron abbey with Linh, Dallas and Ann. Pours a clear orange body with thin white lacing. Aroma is pretty plain - light lager notes with pepper and wheat. Mouthfeel is thin with notes of bitter citrus, honey, and pepper. Definitely hides the 10% well, but a little lacking in overall flavor.

On tap at the City Tap House. Foggy orange yellow with a white haze. Nose is toffee, orange lollipops and yeast. Medium light with a tingle. Taste is grapefruit pith, floral notes and a touch of pepper. Menu said this also had chillies but not apparent.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20 Capa (1633) - Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA - FEB 5, 2011
Floral and lightly bitter hop aroma with medium fruity sweetness and a bit o’ funk but not much. Easy for a saison. Fruits, sweet, almost candylike sweetness but not overpowering, real faint, floral, light hop presence. Some yeast to really finish it out. A bit sweeter than I’m used to in a saison but real nice, I thought.
