3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
I really like rye IPA’s, more so than normal IPA’s; I find that the character of some hops emulates the aromatic profile of caraway seed, and I love the combination of caraway and rye. The hops in this don’t have as strong a caraway quality as some IPA’s do but the resemblance is strong enough that I sense the congruence and like it. Moderately dry, medium body. Doesn’t seem overly bitter to me in spite of the high IBU rating. Three of us ordered a beer sampler at Dock Street and this was one of the ones we all wanted to drink more of.

From tap at the brewpub. Pours clear and golden orange with a small white head. Aroma is peachy and light grapefruity. Peachy, grapefruity and lingering citrusy to grapefruity. Bitter and lasting fruity impression into the far finish.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
On tap at Dock Street. Medium orange-copper colored body, moderate sized white head, soapy lacing. Nose shows citrus, pine, grass, and spicy rye notes. Lightly grainy. FLavor is less well developed and slightly more muted, but still tasty. Medium bodied, assertive carbonation, some prickly qualities from the rye, clean bitterness. Solid all around rye-IPA.

4.3 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
UPDATED: MAY 4, 2013 On tap at Distrito in Philadelphia, PA. I wasn’t expecting much...The beer menu was incredibly limited and their "special beer" was not appealing, so I decided to go for this IPA. I didn’t know until later that this beer was no more than two miles away from the restaurant. It may have been the freshness of the beer or the fact that it was enjoyed with incredible food, but this was an impeccably balanced brew that I was blown away by.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Draft at Philadelphia bar This was a great find. Our plane had been diverted and we missed our flight so we visited the bar. The ale pours a deep coppery color with off-khaki head. The nose had a rye bready malt, with resiny hops. The rye adds some zest to the finish. The IPA tastes rich, smooth, with the resin like hops up front. The carbonation was average with a finish that highlighted the resiny hops and rye. This is a great beer. It is my 900th.
