UPDATED: SEP 11, 2011 Nice aroma from citrus/woody hops. a bit hazy, but all beers there are unfiltered. Has a great malt backbone, and great flavor from hops, Amarillo? Updated, the rye comes thru more now, and this beer is about as good as it gets for an IPA, perfect balance. Thanks "dude" updated: 9/2011. I had thought this beer had strayed a bit from greatness, but man it’s back! Fantastic, and it’s the best IPA in the area.

Deep copper color with a of white head, no retention, no lacing. Citrus and floral hops on the nose. Semi dry & smooth beer with a medium body. Flavor is balanced and not overly aggressive. Notes of both floral and citrus hops along with rye toast pair up nicely to create an enjoyable beer that is not over done with hops or rye.

12oz bottle. Poured a deep clear mahogany body with a smaller to average sized foamy beoge head. Aroma is rye spice, citrus, spicy flower stems, dough and a hint of menthol. Flavor is a slight step down but solid none the less, notes of rye bread dough, old citrus, earthy dry hop cones, floral. Body is medium but sort of flat in the middle and finishes with tight bubbly carbonation.

Aroma is slightly floral with hints of rye. Appearance is dark copper with a decent white head. Tastes of West coast hops up front floral with a touch of citrus. Then the rye notes come in a second or 2 later. Finishes with a little hop bitterness but not overly bitter at all. Nice balance to this rye ipa as some I’ve tried go over the top with the rye. Pretty smooth on the palate. Overall very good drinkable rye ipa.

Bottle. Nose is almost all Simcoe in its papery goodness, some rye. Pours deep copper into chestnut brown, dense sudsy beige head. Taste dry and medium-strong bitterness, very faint rubbery astringency but overall soft and clean. Medium body propped up a bit in feel without malt, and the hops disappear somewhat, too (save for their bittering qualities). Spice and a very mild bit of warmth from the smooth alcohol, time and volume bring rye bread and lightly toasted bread crusts (pump). Cleansing / touch soapy. Love the dryness, but without hops ... or malt ... well, this is pretty bland. But probably worth a single bottle. [2015.12.22: 2.8]

Pours a dark amber color with excellent lacing and head retention. Has an aroma of spice and rye. Tastes malty, slightly sweet and has a nice rye punch. Great beer!

Pours copper orange with a one finger white head with nice lacing. Aroma is citrus, rye, pine, bready malts, and grassy hops. Taste is pretty similar to the aroma. Has a medium body with a creamy, slightly creamy, semi dry, moderately bitter, long finish. Overall, a tasty, hoppy, rye IPA.

On draft at Philidelphia airport. Pours a deep amber, rocky off white head, aroma of grapefruit and floral hops, some biscuity malts there too. Good mouthfeel, not completely full and oily, but nice and spicy from the rye. Flavor is grapefruit and floral hops, very slight rye character, not quite as much as hoped for. Good bitter finish.

APPEARANCE – nice amber color, brilliant white head which has good persistence. NOSE – Definitely pick up rye notes, but nothing in the way of and IPA. FLAVOR – mediocre. Some rye, some west coast style hop, but just a touch. Finally, by the end, when it’s room temperature, I get some hop. NOTES –this beer is thoroughly OK. Not much else to be excited about.

Pint at Local. Terminal F Philadelphia airport. Good aroma sweet. Citrus andrye. Strong on rye. Less on citrus. Clean brownish orange color good initial head faded quick. Spotty lace. Sweet flavor. Medium body. Smooth creamy mouthfeel. Sweet bitter finish. Nice rye was ruling the day. Good rye ipa. Not over the top bitterness. Citrus kind of brew add it warmed.
