soyorganic (111), Denver, Colorado, USA May 28, 2008 Mmmmm... I love these kind IPAs. Draft @ Dock st. Very dark copper color with a nice pine hop smell that foretells a nice hop taste. I love the hop dryness that keeps on giving after you put the glass down. This is how it should be done. Also has a slight spice/rye taste.
dmtroyer (332), Harrisonburg, Virginia, USA Aug 14, 2008 Part of a sampler. Poured amber with a slightly off-white head. Aroma was very floral. Body was similar with an unmistakable rye complexity of dark spice. Very solid but possibly a tad overrated. can8ianben (606), Pasadena, California, USA Aug 14, 2008 IPA’s are usually my favorite style in a sampler platter, and this one was no exception. I appreciate that they are trying something unique with the addition of rye. Taste, aroma, and mouthfeel are all similar to other microbrew ipas. Hoppy and malty, sweet and bitter. Well done. DocLock (4083), Lower Pottsgrove, Pennsylvania, USA Aug 11, 2008 Draft at DRE. Pours deep coppery with off-khaki head. Nose is rye bready malt, resiny hops, tangerine. Tastes rich, smooth, with a resiny hoppy front mixed with a nice rye malty flavor and some tangerine and pineapple notes as it warms. This is a fantastic beer. pepsican (667), the beer wastelands of, Iowa, USA Jul 9, 2008 Murky amber pour with a medium white head. Aroma is bready, rye, some citrus. Flavor was up front malt and earthy hops, some citrus hops, rye, caramel as well. Finishes pretty bitter. Nice mouthfeel. Odd IPA but a great beer. The rye really dries out the finish. Hawksfan17 (610), Conshohocken, Pennsylvania, USA Jun 29, 2008 Pours an amber brown. Earthy, bread, rye nose. It isn’t that hoppy but the rye makes up for it and gives it that bitter aftertaste.
