COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Our American take on traditional fermented sorghum beverages found in Africa. Not only does sorghum have special importance to certain African cultures, but also to people suffering from Celiac disease. It’s one of a few grains that can be used to produce "gluten-free" beer. Sudan Grass is brewed with a combination of sorghum and house-toasted organic buckwheat. Slightly tart and fruity, Sudan Grass Ale is reminiscent of a cider. All Centennial hops were used for an added American twist. 14 IBUs

Hazy blonde grassy golden pour ... white head that didn’t last long ... aroma is malty and grassy .... taste is very sweet and fruity, sugary with sweet malts, grainy, grassy and honey .... lingering malt flavor into the finish .... very simple and sweet

Draught at the BrewPub: Sweet aroma of honey, grains of paradise, cider, white grapes, grains, and bees wax. Poured yellow/gold in color with a small, white head that diminished but lasted throughout. Clear. Lightly sparkling. Flavor is heavily sweet. Tastes of flowers, honey, slight white grape, grains of paradise, grains, and slight diacetyl. Light to medium body. Thin, lightly dry texture. Average carbonation. Heavily sweet, grains of paradise, grain, and honey finish is lightly dry. Way too sweet. 7%ABV is completely hidden throughout.

(DRAFT) Soft gold-orange in color. Slight head. Bubblegum and fruit flavors, with short bitterness. Good interesting flavors on the palate. This beer is different than any I have tried and though I do not have celiac disease, I could enjoy a few pints of Sudan Grass on a nice day.

11th October 2008. GABF. Hazy gold beer. Very very unusual taste - an IPA with a bar of soap dropped in! Very different and repsect for doing something different but could not get to grips with the flavour at all.

Draft at Craft. Poured chill hazy dull dark straw with no head. Nose was sorghumy, with slight hops and citrus. Not much in the nose. The flavor was of sorghum, very slight hops and honey, and a somewhat watery finish. Not exciting, but not bad for a gluten free.

Tap at CAH. Pours a translucent yellow with little to no head. Aroma of honey, lightly herbal grains and light spicy notes. Getting light citrus notes. Flavor is unique. Honey, doughy, a bit of plastic, odd sweetness on the palate/mouthfeel. Cookie dough.

[Draft @ CAH] Poured a lightly hazy golden color with a small, white head that left light lacing on the glass. Aroma of lemongrass, citrus, toast, and lime. Taste of citrus fruits, tart wheaty malts, sweeter sorghum, and a dry finish.

Sample sized from CAH. Poured a medium yellow/golden color with a small sized white head. Aromas and tastes of some graininess and toasty. For Gluten Free Beer, this one wasn’t that bad.

Meh. I remember this brew as being extremely conflicted. Some might say unique and it would deserve a higher score but I find it disjointed with a very soft almost flat palate, some spiciness but altogether bland and sometimes unrecognizable as a beer.

A beer brewed primarily with sorgum and buckwheat. Cloudy and unfiltered, it was unlike anything I’d ever tried before. Some interesting yeasty notes, sweet, almost sour on the palate. Thin body, but seems like it would work as a thirst quenching summer beer. I seem to remember the color as being almost orange.
