I really like Doc’s ciders. I like the framboise and cassis ones too, but RB wont let me rate those because they have fruit juice in them. Yet beers with added fruit juice are permitted - I don’t get that one. Anyway, this was on tap at The Pony Bar, and it was very nice. So natural is better after all. Light sourness and some sweetness - pretty complex for a cider. Not much aroma like most of them. There was a little sulfury fizz on the palate. Very tasty - a superior cider for sure.

Pours pale straw color. Smells boozy and sulfury with some sweet appley undertones. Tastes sweet and boozy with a sugary finish.

Draft at pony with streets and grandpa. Pours an apple cider clear body. Absolutely no head or lacing. Mouthfeel is ultra thin with notes of sweet apple, surprise?

Tap at the Pony Bar. This stuff is rough. Very clear pale golden pour. The nose is fairly appley with a fresh sort of character. There is also a bit of acetone character coming out, especially as it warms. Nose is a bit fusely and has a very pronounced malic acidity. Flavour is quite sweet and chewy and the texture leaves a lingering slickness on the palate. Gak.

Bottle from Half-Time. Pours a almost clear bubbly champagne appearance. Nice light apple aroma. Crisp, refreshing, tart flavor. Perfect amount of sweetness. Nice enjoyable cider.

Bottle. Saw this new offering up at TAPNY a month or so ago, but by the time I got back to the Warwick booth they were out of it. So I was happy to see it show up on the shelves at Half-Time. Pours a crystal clear… well, almost crystal color. It’s really, really light, just a touch of yellow or gold to it. Unlike their Pear and normal apple, this one actually holds a bit of a foamy white head for a minute, giving it even more of a champagne appearance. Crisp green apples, yeast. Not a ton going on, but with the lightness of the color, it’s not a big surprise. Sweet, and without the malic acid that pops out right away on the regular apple, but still a little bit of tartness that shows up a little slower. The acidic tartness does seem to linger longer than the original, but the body is a little lighter, without that slightly sticky Sauterne character. The slow building bright acid on the back end makes this a nice addition to their line up.
