COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A traditional German unfiltered spontaneously and traditionally fermented sour ale with a cephalopod twist. This Black Berliner Weisse showcases a traditional brewing technique of a sour mash and no-boil before being fermented with a German Ale yeast blended with lactobacillus and brettanomyces to produce a refreshingly tart and thirst quenching 4.6% summer ale.
The vibrant visual of ink infused Berliner Weisse prepares you for the unique taste sensation that is sour ales, but in balanced approachable moderation. Deliciously refreshing, crisp and tart this is your Doctor’s Orders mid-seasonal for summer.

Had on tap at the Union Hotel in Newtown. I loved the murky green colour, great tart finish. You couldn’t drink a lot but very enjoyable. One of those you just HAVE to try.

Hand pump @ Harts Pub, Sydney. Looks like no other Berlinerweiss I have ever seen with a snot-green cloudy body and negligible white head. There is a subtle tart sourness to the aroma on top of the wheaty malts which is promising but the palate is light and disappointingly flat with mild sour flavours and an abrupt finish. Certainly nowhere near as crisp, spritely and refreshing as the authentic version. A bit of a dud to be frank.

Squid ink, huh. It’s not black, but still hilarious. Tap. Cloudy pale bluegreen, head vanishes almost immediately. Aroma is wheaty and sour with some mouldering grapefruit. High carbonation, mouthfeel is maybe a little heavy but certainly has a convincing slipperiness. Wheaty and moderately sour, but with no zingy brett notes. Pretty refreshing but that lack of bite detracts. Is there a little brininess (and maybe even a touch of meatiness) or is that suggestion?

This looks really cool! The beer I had was a pea-soup green colour, unfortunately, the flavour is far boring. The sourness is slight; much prefer Watermelon warhead!

Looks like bubble gum! A very light berliner weisse flavour - slightly tart, slightly summery. Very refreshing. Wish this was a fruity fella, but love what they’re trying to do here.
