(Ontap at Beer Deluxe Hawthorn) - 14-Jan-13 - Sweet toffee choc malt and a touch of smoke roast malt. Black colour and light brown head. Sweet tropical fruit, pine hop and spice flavour. Warming hop sweet fruit malt finish and medicinal aftertaste. Not the right balance of flavours too call it a belgian style for me.

On tap at The Scratch. Sinfully black in colour with some good lacing left on the glass. Hopped up aroma with some fruitiness mixed in there as well. The flavour and body is strong.

Beautiful tan head, deep dark drown colour. Mild nose with hoppy, sweet and toffee notes. Taste is fruity hops, nice piney bitterness, I also get treacle, and dark apple. Palate leaves you with a warming bitterness lingering. Good beer.

Had this a while back on tap at the Albion, Newcastle, Australia. Intense, lively bitterness in this one from memory, really nicely balanced. The way a black IPA should be hopped.

Growler, 11C. Dark brown with a large beige head. Aroma of chocolate, bananas, lemon, oranges, spices. First sniff is all sweet and fruity, then citrus hops really blast through. Silky mouthfeel. Alcohol is dangerously well-hidden. Sweet chocolate, caramel, banana, some light tropical fruits swept aside by bitter orange and lemon. Fine finish is hoppy, dry and a little salty, but disjointed with what came before. Interesting and fun though.
