COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Too extreme to be called beer? Brewed to a colossal 45įP, boiled for a full 2 hours while being continually hopped with high alpha American hops, dry-hopped every day in the fermenter for a month, and aged for a month on whole leaf hops, 120 Minute IPA is by far the strongest IPA ever brewed. And at 21% ABV and 120 IBUís, you can see why we are calling this the Holy Grail for Hopheads. Editors note: ABV reduced down to 18% in 2009.

Bottle received in trade. 2012 vintage. Thank you callmemickey! Pours clear deep golden with a thin frothy offwhite head that quickly dissipates without leaving much trace on the glass. Smell is sweet and herbal with white bread, alcohol, oily pine, freshly cut grass, moist green herbs, caramel, peppery resinous wood, orange peal, moist soil, vodka and tropical fruit hard candy.†Taste is sweet and very bitter with bread, alcohol, oily pine, freshly cut grass, peppery resinous wood, citrus fruit peal and zest, caramel, liquor, tropical fruit hard candy, lemon balm and caramel. Mouthfeel is round, very boozy and medium bodied. Finish is sweet and bitter with caramel, sweet bread, alcohol, grapefruit rinds, unripe pineapple, resinous wood and oily pine. Very weird, very boozy and not really my thing...

Muddled hop aroma with a caramel candy malt aroma. Appearance is a hazy gold with a small white head with below average retention for an ipa. Flavor is a blend of malt and hops. Malt has flavors of toast and caramel. Hop flavor is a muddled. Bitterness is high. The high alcohol level is apparent and hot due to the high level of fusel alcohols. Mouthfeel is medium with medium low carbonation. Overall, it tastes more like an American barleywine than an IPA. For 18% abv it tastes decent but the high level of fusel and the muddled hop aroma/flavor detract from the beer. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Pours a beautiful golden amber with a pillowy white head that reduces to a bubbly film in a couple minutes. Plenty of sticky lacing. Nose is surprisingly malty with fruity notes; some peach. Taste is quite well-balanced. The sweetness, from alcohol sugars I assume, balance out the bitterness of the colossal hop content amazingly well. Only slightly boozy. Full body, thick and rich. Moderate carbonation. This drinks more like a hoppy liquor than a beer. Delightful! Iím a huge fan!

Bottle. Pours clear orange with white head. Aroma is very hot, fresh grains, floral, resin, spruce. Taste is sweet, very hot, lots of ethanol, vanilla. Overall, this is a very fresh vintage and it definitely needs to age out quite a bit.

So massive so complex yet so balanced. I had this as fresh as possible the aroma screamed dank pine hops. There are too many flavor notes to count. This is incredible, for the price its nice to have but then find yourself some green flash green bullet.

12 oz. bottle pours a slightly hazy orange/copper color with small white head that leaves some lacing. Aroma is not strong, but complex, alternating between floral and fruity hops, and some caramel candy. Taste is much sweeter than I expected, with bitterness only in the finish. The alcohol warming is not as obvious as I would have expected for 18%, but itís there. Body is full with average carbonation and an oily mouthfeel. A very memorable IIPA, but perhaps not quite up to the hype heightened by its scarce availability.

This pours a hazy copper color with a slight head. The aroma is good and bold with hops but nothing over the top like you might imagine with this beer. The taste is big and bold with decent amount of sweetness from the alcohol content and no where near as hoppy as I would have thought. Really flavorful and well made.

Very nice. Sweeter than I was expecting. Strong alcohol bite. Alternated between bite and an almost candy-like sweetness. Couldnít quite place the aroma...very complex mixture of sweet and sour. Hoppy...as expected.

Aroma of lots of sweet fruit and hops. Taste is very very hoppy, nice caramel malt character, lots of bitterness, alcohol warming at the end. Great DIPA!

"chewy pine and citrus on the nose and flavor. full bodied is an understatement. it may actually have too much body. less hoppy and sweeter than i expected, but i guess you have to have a lot of residual sugar at 21%! glad i tried it a couple times...probably wonít buy it again. 2 years or so later itís still sweet but has matured well. Iím adjusting slightly higher to reflect (believe it or not) the port like qualities of this ipa"

Orange with white head. Loaded with peach and citrus and tropical fruit aroma. Taste is peach, layers of hop flavor, fruity alcohol. This was just awesome. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
