2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 2/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 4/20
Tap 2011. Pours a beautiful golden with a small tan head. Aroma is sickeningly sweet malt which fights against a rather pleasant flowery, grapefruity hoppy nose. Mouthfeel is thick....like log cabin syrup thick. At 18%abv I suppose I should have seen this coming, what with all the residual malt sugars. The hops are lost a bit on account of the insane alcoholic/sweet taste. Then come the hops in the finish. Whatever joy these wonderful hops might have brought are crushed by what I can only compare as carbonated whiskey bite.
All in all Iím glad I tried this but.....seriously....99/100?

4.4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20
This pours a hazy copper color with a slight head. The aroma is good and bold with hops but nothing over the top like you might imagine with this beer. The taste is big and bold with decent amount of sweetness from the alcohol content and no where near as hoppy as I would have thought. Really flavorful and well made.

4.7 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 19/20
Very nice. Sweeter than I was expecting. Strong alcohol bite. Alternated between bite and an almost candy-like sweetness. Couldnít quite place the aroma...very complex mixture of sweet and sour. Hoppy...as expected.

4.5 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20
Aroma of lots of sweet fruit and hops. Taste is very very hoppy, nice caramel malt character, lots of bitterness, alcohol warming at the end. Great DIPA!

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
"chewy pine and citrus on the nose and flavor. full bodied is an understatement. it may actually have too much body. less hoppy and sweeter than i expected, but i guess you have to have a lot of residual sugar at 21%! glad i tried it a couple times...probably wonít buy it again. 2 years or so later itís still sweet but has matured well. Iím adjusting slightly higher to reflect (believe it or not) the port like qualities of this ipa"

4.4 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
Orange with white head. Loaded with peach and citrus and tropical fruit aroma. Taste is peach, layers of hop flavor, fruity alcohol. This was just awesome.

4.2 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle: (on 6/30/14)
Pours cloudy, peach with a thin white ring.
Strong, fruity aroma...boat-drink alcohol, semi-tropical.
Taste is creamsickle and alcohol. Caramel malt.
Marshmallow...mild citrus bitter.
Truly in a class by itself...mind boggling that itís so smooth.
Iíd swear it was not even half the advertised ABV, though it does put out a bit of warmth the more you sip.
Increasingly nectary as it warms.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
330ml bottle served in a pint glass.
A: Pours a dark orange color. Slightly hazy. Forms a one finger creamy, thin bubbled and solid yellow head. Medium retention and lots of spotty and lingering lacings left in the glass
S: Strong caramel and citrus and flowery hops. Caramel malts. Plums and peaches. Oak. Very boozy, like a liquor.
T: Taste is quite good. A sweet and upfront. Strong toffee, caramel malts, dry fruits like peaches. A nice woody background. Warming, as expected. Despite the strong alcohol in the nose, itís hard to believe that this a 18% ABV beer. I would say something between 11 and 13%. The 120 IBU is also quite hidden by its sweetness, unfortunately :)
M: Heavy, creamy and molasses. Low carbonation and a quite bittersweet (more sweet than bitter) aftertaste
O: Good drinkability. Not as good as the 90 Minute. Perhaps a bit too sweet and boozy but still a classic from Dogfish Head

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
12 oz bottle shared with friends. Thick, hoppy, goopy, juicy, resinous and strongly bitter with medium malty sweetness. Pretty tasty but probably not worth the price tag.

3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Rating #2800! "Bottled on 3/3/06" No more sense holding on to this any longer. Big syrupy malt smell under the cap, usual for an older cellar beer. (Ahh! Just saved the glass from being accidentally knocked over! Tragedy averted!). A lot of maple sugar in the nose. Ruddy brown color, poured with very little head. Taste has more maple syrup to it. Very little hop left to this, which is not a surprise. Makes up for it with plenty of sherry and alcohol, and no oxidation. Some bitterness in the back of the tongue helps keep the brew from getting too sweet. So, not the hop bomb that a fresher version of this might be, but it has developed enough character to remain worth saving for 8 years. Good luck me getting hold of a fresh bottle of this for comparison, but not to worry, I have a 2006 90 Minute IPA left to check against some 2012ís I got at $3 a 4-pack. And therein lies a taleÖ

1.4 AROMA 2/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 3/20
Without a doubt THE worst beer Iíve ever tasted. This disgusting swill is simply a severly oxidized mess of hops and malt that smells and tastes like sweaty sock, rancid oils, grass, burnt rubber and rubbing alcohol. These really brewers need to go back to school (if they ever went in the first place) and find out what real beer is all about.
