2.4 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 9/20
Bottle from 11-26-08. Poured a deep orange with some whitish head. Very little lacing. Aroma was mostly boozey nail polish. Taste was about the same; really boozey, some citrus, some vanilla, some medium malt sweetness. Ended up drain pouring this. Sad, because this beer is great fresh, and great with 2-3 years on it. Iíll be cracking the rest of my old bottles soon to see how theyíre holding up.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
On tap at Fraser's. The pour is a copperish gold, heavy emphasis on the copper. There is a thin white head and some whispy lacing down the glass. The aroma is damn bitter and hoppy. There is a resounding sweetness that is surprising for a big IPA. The resiny prominence comes in on the back end. The flavor is definitely a bit bitter up on the front end and then comes through a huge sweetness that again, took me by surprise. There is a nice citrus note and the hoppy bitterness on the front. There is also a pretty strong booziness on the back end. The mouth feel is a bit thin, with not a whole lot of carbonation, and the after taste is just thin, and falls off quickly.

They say you should never meet your idols. I donít claim to know why they say it, but for some reason those who make the anecdotes thought it wize to try to protect people from being disappointed when their idols donít live up to peopleís high expectations of them.
I have a new anecdote, pick better idols... you.... stupid kids....
Iíve heard tales of this beer. Myths. Legends.... An ipa too strong to be called a beer the hoppiest most alcoholic beer known to man. This beer was on a pedestal so high I couldnít even see the beer on top because it was blocked by Saturnís rings.... Then one fateful day I happened upon this beer at a small bar in Ann Arbor... and I can say it completely lived up to my stratospheric expectations.
The beer is thick. Not like molasses thick, chocolate milk thick..... Yeah...
It tastes like the high abv is a product of adding tons and tons of sugar, there isnt so much a huge malt presence youd see with an abv this high as a huge.... sweet body... thing.... its odd, but not offputting. The hop presence is monumental, its got a huge grapefruity citrus body with a manageably bitter taste trying to kill the sugaryness of the whole concoction. I like it. Its crazy how something this alcoholic can hide every trace of the boozy flavor this completely. One day I hope to get my hands on a bottle to cherish for years, but for now Iíll just be happy having spent a couple hours in the presence of this amazing, legendary beer that Iíll probably never see again....

4.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 19/20
At last this beer comes to the same state as me. Iíve been searching for it for ages and it finally comes to a bar 15 minutes away from my work... On a Thursday... Starting at 1pm... Well Iím not man enough to leave work at 1 but I leave a little early to try and get it and got it I did. Disappointed I am not. It doesnít have that great of an aroma, it smells a little citrusy, hoppy, and sugary, but itís all very faint. Itís a very nice clear golden amber color. Very small head but it laces well. It tastes really great. Grapefruity, citrusy, and I donít really know what else but itís good and unique. I donít feel like Iíve ever had a beer that tasted similar to this. It tastes real thick too which is crazy. Kind of like the thickness of a good stout but the rest of it is redonk IPA. Itís also alcoholic as shit, but you canít taste it at all. I think Iíve had about 1/8 of the 10oz glass and that equates to about 2 and a half two hearteds worth of drunkenness. Also Iíve never smoked weed but Iíve heard of weed smokers talking about mind or body highs. Well in my couple of sips I think this beer is giving me a real mind drunk. My mind seems pretty drunk but my body doesnít seem weird at all. It kind of reminds me of drinking absinthe. Anyways this is a great beer and Iíd go through whatever it takes to drink it again and my food just got here so this review is DONE!

Too extreme to be called beer? Brewed to a colossal 45°P, boiled for a full 2 hours while being continually hopped with high alpha American hops, dry-hopped every day in the fermenter for a month, and aged for a month on whole leaf hops, 120 Minute IPA is by far the strongest IPA ever brewed. And at 21% ABV and 120 IBU’s, you can see why we are calling this the Holy Grail for Hopheads. Editors note: ABV reduced down to 18% in 2009.

Pours a golden orange with a medium white head. Aroma is citrus and tons of hops! You can smell the booze a bit. Taste is very booze forward but not overpowering considering the ABV level. Then comes a wave of hops. Not too bitter but very complex on the palate. Hard to pinpoint any one hop variety but one heck of a complex palate.

3.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bottle. Pours a hazy amber color with a moderate off-white head on it. The more I smell this beer, the boozier it gets to me, but I get some nice floral hoppiness with a hint of citrus as well. Taste is cloyingly sweet, and has an almost metallic taste to it. Really not an easy drink, and feels much more like an intense barley wine than an IIPA.

bottle, aged for 18 months. Orange-amber colour. Citrusy-orange aroma. Sweet, syrupy, malty, boozy, creamy. Split my bottle with a friend, even that was enough. Nice sipping drink.

4.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 19/20
Brand spanking new and fresh.
Sappy, sweet, huge and intense. Complex deeply beautiful hop nose. Golden rich colour. An incredibly intense but balanced, beautiful intense achievement. Incredible. Piece by piece a thing of beauty but itís still better than the sum of its parts.
