3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 Slipstream (1786) - USA - SEP 16, 2010Another big thank you to my cousin for passing me a bottle of this very unusual brew. Interesting, powerful aroma: booze with some nice tropical blossom notes, a little molasses and melon. It is definitely complex, but still dominated by alcohol. The flat, light brown pour is not very interesting. The flavor, however, is really something - rich, sweet, and complex. Like some other DFH creations, it tastes like no other beer. 120 has lots of esters, some raisin, orange, peach brandy, and a lot of sugar. It is not overwhelmed by hops like I thout it would be. Instead it is more like a punch or a hopped whiskey drink. At 18% ABV, I probably won’t be getting many of these, but DFH 120 is a unique brew, and I’m glad I got to try it.
4.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 19/20 Pith (122) - New York, USA - JUN 17, 2013
Aged in bottle for one year. From Port Jeff Beverage, NY. Pours cloudy orange (slightly rusty) Medium carbonation. Minimal off-white head. Aroma- light almost hand-soap light citrus... floral.
Taste- sweet floral star, into gentle beautiful spicy citrus floral soap flavor before malt over turn harsh end.
End- heavy strong spicy caramelish malt taste with finish increasing to almost bitter. The finish is so bitter it almost makes you forget, but the journey to there is delightful and rather enjoyable.
3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 UDBeernut (904) - Near Buffalo, New York, USA - JUN 17, 2013
Another one in my small list of backlogs. Pours medium amber with a thin head. Nose has flowers and citrus, malt. Taste has a solid bitter base that is in constant struggle with the full malt body, citrus and pine on the finish.
2.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 1/5 OVERALL 11/20 rumproasts (1193) - Grand Rapids, Michigan, USA - JUN 16, 2013
bottle. Amber with small head. I absolutely love both the 60 and 90 min IPAs, and was hoping for more of the same. Unfortunately, this seems like they’ve taken it too far. It’s very sweet, which I’m sure they needed to do to get the ABV cranked up. Extremely harsh and boozy. Hops are good, but the sweetness and alcohol bite are a major distraction. Definitely more interesting than good.

On tap at DFH Rehoboth. While definitely more boozy than hoppy, this is still a well balanced beer with a lot of complexity...just don’t expect an IPA.
0.9 AROMA 2/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 2/10 PALATE 1/5 OVERALL 1/20 timothykstone (6) - Texas, USA - JUN 8, 2013 does not count
Trinity Hall - Avoid at all costs. The only redeeming factor about this beer is you can sterilize surgical instruments with it, because it is straight up rubbing alcohol. 18% ....Really!?!

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20 williamstome (571) - Somerville, Massachusetts, USA - JUN 2, 2013
Orange pour.
Citrusy hop and alcohol aroma.
Super hoppy sweet intense flavor, and quite alcoholic, but I would be surprised if it wasn’t at 18%.

4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20 Elwood (2552) - Leesburg, Virginia, USA - JUN 2, 2013
Serving: 12 oz. bottle from State Line Liquors. It pours a deep ruddy amber with a very thin tan head. The nose is a potent mix of boozy caramel, pine, and tropical fruit notes. The flavor definitely starts off sweet but the massive amount of hops eventually reigns supreme with notes of pine, tropical fruit, and candied citrus. Fully bodied to the point of being almost syrupy with a very warming finish. Let’s face it, this one is made for balance and it isn’t. If you aren’t in the market for a bit boozy bomb of a beer, skip this one. But if you like your strong ales on the potent side, this one is worth seeking out. It changes nicely over time as well. Young you get a nice hop blast. As it ages the hops fade giving slightly oxidized notes to a solid barley wine.
