Bottle in LA. Pours slightly hazy pale amber, fine head. Distinct hop aroma, can’t put my finger on it. Citrusy hops, a little sweetness and finishes dry with moderate smooth bitterness. Flavour like a dialled back 90 minute. Not over the top. ’East coast IPA’ huh? This might be my type of IPA. Nice, very well balanced IPA.

Growler - I have been drinking this beer for years and never formally given it a rating. Light golden color, almost pale but still nice for an IPA. String hop smell. Taste is also a full face of hops with very little malt backbone to cut the bitterness which is great. Dry taste in the palate. Get hints of citrus and floral. For me this is an everyday kinda IPA.

35 cl bottle I brought over from a retailer Manhattan, NY. Dark gold color, big rocky offwhite head, plenty of lacing, big hops smell. Aroma is mostly hops and herbs, citrus, resins, grapefruit/orange, pine, minerals Backed by a decent pale malts foundation. Taste is fairly bitter, yet balanced. Medium body, fairly dry finish. This IPA has toasty hoppy cedar taste. It’s not just trying to be as bitter as possible like some IPAs try to be. It’s the perfect compliment to great hot Buffalo Wings.

The best beer I have ever tasted. The complexities of flavor and balance of these bitters and citrus have me so immensely wanting more. I come from Saint Louis where Dogfish Head is not sold a trip to DC finally allowed the opportunity for me to try the venerated object of my desire.

12 fl oz bottle at home on 15/08/15. 6% bottled May 2015. Clear amber orange, sparkling, dense foamy white head endures and leaves full lacing. Aroma is musty caramel, peppery biscuits. Body is medium, smooth, soft carbonation. Taste is soft caramelly biscuit malts, resin, grapefruit citrus, a little ’lagery’ with a peppery finish. Nice enough, average IPA.
