Copper penny body with a white, foamy head. Smells of sweet pinecones, pineapple: dry and sweet. Taste is sweet but very drying. Not to the point of being drying, but like licking the bottom of a christmas tree. Sugars and hops are great.

Definitely a very good IPA. Not as good as the 90 minute I personally feel. But this still holds its own. Hops playground

Thanks to Sancho for this awesome IPA! Great copper orange color....fantastic hop smell of grapefruit and floral. Taste wonderful too...but could be just a bit maltier. Just a great IPA from a brewery that knows how to do it.

A solid IPA ... it has a unique tasting hops and a nice texture that many pale ales lack. From start to finish it is quite good ... but yet lacking that phenomenal punch that makes it remarkable. Could use a little more malt flavoring and a more distinctive array of hops. All-in-all highly recommendable though.

Muddled tawny beer, foamy off-white head. Smell those hops. Grapefruit smell. Nice and bitter but not to the point of being offensive. Slightly dry, no offensive or overlybitter aftertaste. Quite smooth for an IPA.

UPDATED: DEC 26, 2004 Orange with a white head. Aroma: hops, citrus, pine, grassy. Has a good hop character, but not overpowering to that point that it is all you notice. While the hops are the dominant taste, there are citrus and floral tastes as well. Pretty smooth with the floral/grass taste coming in the finish, and then leaving a bitter aftertaste. Re-rate: Superior brew. Nice malty taste complimented by great hop character.

UPDATED: OCT 13, 2007 Oct. 5, 2004: 12-oz. bottle. Hops galore, as one would expect. Piney and long, pleasingly bitter, aftertaste with nice substance underneath -- very well-balanced. Iíll be having this one again.

Revisited on Oct. 13, 2007: Hard to believe itís been three years since Iíve had this. Although my earlier rating was a bit exuberant in the aroma, appearance and overall impression categories, this is a fine session ale with a complex character -- even if itís a tad subdued compared to some of the more aggressive examples of the style.

Appearance: sets the stage uneventfully with the color, a typical bright orange for an IPA, then springs on us a huge, cloud-like head, milky-white, soft and lacey. Aroma: a veritable pine forest that the nose is walking through, needle, sap and all! Thereís other kinds of sensation, some fruity, citric character, but that sharp piney, grassiness dominates. Big, stinging, and arousing. Taste is most unusual: biscuity, bready, yeasty, a substantial mouthful, slightly sour, still resonating with hops, and delivering an unspecific fruitiness, that mingles and blends with this breadish tone. Excellent texture, slightly chewy. Hoppiness rides above and shines throughout, but underneath is that other thick and yeasty quality, most unusual. Hops donít quit, either, they take up permanent residence in the mouth and continues to conquer throughout the tasty, long finish. I kept smackiní my lips throughout the contents of this bottle. Great drinking for any hophead, like me, and deserves points for sheer uniqueness alone.
