Block (363), West Lafayette, Indiana, USA Sep 7, 2008 Hops in the aroma and flavor. Initially very bitter but gradually becomes more mellow. A very balanced IPA and one of the few I could drink all night. DandyWolfFloyd (331), Jim Thorpe, Pennsylvania, USA Sep 4, 2008 Very hoppy nose, featuring multiple hops, some citrus (grapefruit, and strong citrus aromas). It’s a clean golden color, w/ a fully developed head, having excellent lacing, were talking silk stockings, collar remains all the way to the very bottom. It’s flavor is full of piney oils - excellent hop flavor, w/ citrus as well, nice mild malt bodies, really let the hops come to center stage. It’s smooth, well-balanced, nice hop - burn, but not incinerating. The claim is session, but I’m not certain that is true maybe 3 tops. An excellent brew, plenty dry, plenty hopped, lots of character. jrs (3), , Kansas, USA does not count Sep 3, 2008 i’m drinking this from a bowler, so not quite a full pint, not quite a full appearance. very clear. fine head, and decent retention.
continually hopping sounds cool. it really blends the aroma and the taste.
i catch some aroma and taste similar to a coffee (i had a powercat house blend at a local shop here in manhattan, ks last)
it’s really good. smooth taste, maybe from the continual hopping.
solid beer. i put it above most, but still room for improvement. kappldav123 (1793), Markkleeberg, Germany Sep 3, 2008 The bottle looks good, the beer in the glass also. Interesting aroma - strong, modest alcoholic. Starts very vapid, the finish is more intense, malt dominated. Good beer!
Thanks to Zinister for the bottle! afireinside96 (817), Mountville, Pennsylvania, USA Sep 2, 2008 12oz bottle served in a stem glass. Orange-amber color with a nice off-white head. Smells of various citrus fruits and caramel. taste is similar with the fruity aspect taking on a bigger role. Nicely balanced bitterness. A nice session IPA. pepperford (115), robbinsdale, Minnesota, USA Sep 2, 2008 Yellowy orange with just a hint of foam. Perfumy aromas and flavor. Lemon/orange hop flavors. Bitterness is not too off the charts. Good, but not a life changer. brew4fun (167), West Virginia, USA Sep 1, 2008 12 oz. bottle. Pours medium copper, thin white head that disappears quickly. Aroma of pine and citrus, light malt. Taste is decent, with adequate malt character but rather light on the hops. Thin body lends itself to easy drinkability. Good beer, but I expected more from an IPA. JCastner (102), New York, USA Aug 31, 2008 Light copper with a weak head. Almost no lacing. Aroma is almost all Amarillo. Flavor is almost all pine/citrus with some hints of sweet pale malt and a lingering bitter finish.
American IPA’s are generally dryer and hoppier than their English counterparts. Fairly standard and enjoyable but nothing extraordinary.
