strowlands8 (75), Ontario, Canada Sep 15, 2009 Really solid IPA, great flavour and not too bitter. A very drinkable beer, medium bitterness, grass, floral. Chipper (181), Red Lion, Pennsylvania, USA Sep 15, 2009 Deep amber pour with a moderate off-white head. Hops, spice and fruit aroma. Solid hop bite, but still very smooth. Very good. Tyler88 (3), Ottawa, Ontario, Canada does not count Sep 14, 2009 4 12oz bottles. Pours a white head that disappears quite quickly, good full flavour. Solid IPA. Scouser (39), Pennsylvania, USA Sep 14, 2009 Not much aroma at all. nice golden honey in colour with nice whit lacing. Nice citrus hoppy flavour. Overall a nice refreshing beer, good sumer drink. teorn88 (60), , Italy Sep 14, 2009 12oz bottle. Pours clear orange with average white head. Creamy mostly lasting foam. Aroma is not so exciting as in other good IPA: softy malty, mostly hoppy. Aniway, nothing so intense to make me benevolent towards this beer. The flavor is quite better but it misses some more bitterness and spiciness. Medium body and light carbonation. Really easy to drink but still missing temperament. phaleslu (428), Cincinnati, Ohio, USA Sep 13, 2009 Bottle. Pours orange-gold with a medium white head. Aroma of citrus, hops, pine, malt. Flavor follows suit, with wonderful bitter hops that don’t overwhelm. Well-balanced, medium bodied, with a crisp, bitter finish. Great IPA. Cirrhosis (610), Edmonton, Alberta, Canada Sep 11, 2009 Light honey brown body with a good sized nipple cap floating on top. Hoppy hop citrus aroma with pine and some nut malts are smooth but not that prominent, aroma is good but not making me drool. Taste seems light for an American IPA put still tasty. Very malty and thick. Lots of great caramel malts, good hop mostly of the pine variety but no spice or real bitterness. The alcohol seems to prominent for just IPA. Good beer highly drinkable but there a far better IPA’s out there this was to light tasting and not as hoppy or as bitter as I was expecting. Vertical Bacon Strips (874), Edmonton, Alberta, Canada Sep 11, 2009 Well. What the hell. I’ve sure had some inconsistencies with this brewery lately and tonight is not exception ... or is it? Maybe I’m tasting what I’m supposed to taste. Either way, I am not amused.
Poured out an orangy brew with a very small and disappointing sized head - pretty much only enough to stick to the rim. The aroma is very unispiring - this is barely an IPA imo. Sweet malts -caramel mostly, the usual hops of citrus, grapefruit, pines, orange, etc. I htink it’s the malt bill thata fails for me here - no connection between the malts and hops. Not appealing one bit.
The taste is not a good thing at all - sure, there are citrus stuff but it’s not upfront at all. Caramel malts are funny, hard pine and medicinal (faint), more malts now but it’s very hard to explain why I dislike this so much. Odd roast to the malts might be what is so perplexing here. Ok bitterness when warmer. I will search out another bottle just in case I got hosed here. Not impressed one bit. Not really a 2.3 beer but most definelty a 2.3 IPA.
