Bitter-oily-grapefruit belch. Very nice beer bot not as big as others on the hops. Bockyhorsey (2561), Mesa, Arizona, USA

It was 90 degrees outside and this hoppy experience was great to start out my day. Will have to find me a bottle of this one. Great Beer. dwyerpg (2553), Las Vegas, Nevada, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 3/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Jan 2, 2006 Updated: Dec 25, 2006Re-rate. Not impressed with this. The smell is not there. Too nutty and malty. Thought I hadn’t had it, so bummed that I got it again, since I could’ve tried a different one from them.
First rating 8,4,8,3,16. pretty standard smell and color for an IPA. This really isn’t too hoppy. The malts are there throughout. A nice bitter graininess, but I have certainly had better IPAs. This one just can’t decide if it wants to be a smooth drink again and again IPA or a tough one-at-a-time IPA. pivo (2537), Germany
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Dec 25, 2003 Floral nose, khaki gold color, low head. Got a fruity-cherry thing going on in the body. Honey and citrusy hop end. A little gritty going done. Bright hops and overall very nice. Like the 90 better. kramer (2533), Sunbury, Pennsylvania, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Oct 7, 2005 12 oz bottle. Pours a light copper with a 1/2 cm head. Lots of lively carbonation present. Soft floral hops on the nose, grassy, floral and fruity. Flavor is rather subdued with a general hop bitterness against a lightly malty background. The hops in this are a bit muddled together with a very one dimensional character to them, just kind of bland. Tastes of grapefruit, citrus, and caramel malt. Mouthfeel is a little over carbonated for my taste, with medium body. Not bad, but a far cry from some of the awesome stuff these guys make. GregClow (2516), Toronto, Ontario, Canada
| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Jul 9, 2003 Hazy dark orange colour with a few little floaties. Thick white head that quickly disappears, leaving a lot of lace behind. Aroma is thick and resiny with notes of citrus and earthy hops. Mouthfeel is full and slightly creamy. Flavour has just a hint of sweetness before the tongue-tingling bitterness kicks in. Lingering finish is bitter (duh!), but with a slightly caramely backbone. jgb9348 (2515), Arlington (Pentagon City), Virginia, USA

Slightly hazy golden colour with a slight orange tint. Smells of a bit of hops thrown in with a ton of malt...really not too much dry-hopping in this one (so it seems). Medium-bodied; Nice filling mouthfull, a bunch of the higher a.a. hops dominate the taste along with a pleasant amount of malt. More hops in the palate along with a residual sweetness and a tiny amount of the malt. Overall, a good beer, but a step down from the 90 Minute (as you might expect). DFH should produce a real IPA beer, that isn't 'Imperial' (90) or less than normal (60), but just right down the middle of what an IPA should be like. I had this pint on tap at MacGregor's in Rochester, New York.
12 ounce bottle:
Very clear golden colour, not too promising from a great brewery. Hoppy smell with very little else. The taste was semi hoppy, but not overly hoppy. Not a strong beer, not a flavourful beer, just a light IPA...maybe even an APA. A good beer, but not great. If they made a beer with more hops than this, but less 'large' than the 90 minute, I'd be in heaven! kmweaver (2503), Sebastopol, California, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Jan 17, 2007 12oz bottle. Pours a clear yellowish-orange; brilliant white head with big-bubbled lacing; a beautiful pour. Hugely aromatic, chewy hop aroma: plenty of oranges and mango and citrus. Well-balanced mouthfeel: plenty of dank grapefruit hops; chewy maple syrup and candy sugar; lively carbonation, finishing slightly bitter and dry. Often slighted by its big brothers, this is a fantastic IPA.
