Grassy aroma with a bitter bite in the flavor. A solid IPA. I enjoyed this while camping at the Austin Creek S.R.A. Pigfoot (2226), Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA

Appearance: sets the stage uneventfully with the color, a typical bright orange for an IPA, then springs on us a huge, cloud-like head, milky-white, soft and lacey.
Aroma: a veritable pine forest that the nose is walking through, needle, sap and all! There’s other kinds of sensation, some fruity, citric character, but that sharp piney, grassiness dominates. Big, stinging, and arousing.
Taste is most unusual: biscuity, bready, yeasty, a substantial mouthful, slightly sour, still resonating with hops, and delivering an unspecific fruitiness, that mingles and blends with this breadish tone. Excellent texture, slightly chewy. Hoppiness rides above and shines throughout, but underneath is that other thick and yeasty quality, most unusual. Hops don’t quit, either, they take up permanent residence in the mouth and continues to conquer throughout the tasty, long finish.
I kept smackin’ my lips throughout the contents of this bottle. Great drinking for any hophead, like me, and deserves points for sheer uniqueness alone.

| 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | May 26, 2003 Yummy. Hazy orangy amber color, some head. I saw something chunky floating in there. Smells of earthy hops, and some bitter malt. I'm digging it so far. The taste is hoppy, also bitter and earthy, with a bit of lingering fruit. The malt, although light and not sweet, stands up surprisingly well to the hop onslaught. Not sure if I would always reach for a bottle of this, but if I want to think about my beer while I drink it, this isn't a bad one to drink. DYCSoccer17 (2201), Davis, California, USA
| 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 10/20 | Feb 26, 2004 Pours slightly hazy golden color with unexpected floaties. Robust frothy white head. Aroma was noted during the pour. Hoppy and cirtusy orange hints. Start is very mild tasting and rather thin. Middle has some more citrus notes, finishing with mild to moderate hoppiness. The wateryness to start is a very bad first impression. The last 2 times I have had this, I have no been impressed. Kind of a bummer from DFH. willblake (2193), Belcamp, Maryland, USA

Aroma was nice, citrus and herbal, but also quite mild. Haven’t tried the other Dogfish IPA’s but this one lends some promise to the others. Nice logo, BTW.
So much better than I first gave it credit for. Great bitterness to finish and clean all the way across the palate make this a great, although hearty, session brew. blutt59 (2186), Dallas, Texas, USA

| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Oct 8, 2006 Updated: Jun 7, 2008Bottle. Overflowing aroma of hops, floral and sweet with a strong dose of toast. Light floral touch and slightly stronger earthiness, but the story here is the dominance of the hops. Golden pour with a creamy white head. Extremely dry and bitter! And I mean extremely! Crisp and a bit oily, light citrus, and unbalanced in the direction of the bud. Fullish body with a powerful, long-lasting aftertaste. This is pure, brutal hop juice. This is a dedicated, serious, hardcore IPA, and quite a noble effort ... though I’d rather have the 90 mins and the extra malt.
Re-rate, June 08: A really nice, very oily hoppy nose, everything else light and dusty, thin and lightly perfumed. A good chugger, very dry and good volume-character. Everything originally stated stands, this is a good one but not quite in 4+ territory. whaleman (2171), North Wales, Pennsylvania, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Dec 9, 2004 Updated: Dec 19, 2004Light copper body with mild carbonation and a fluffy white head. Aroma is floral plus light pine, nectarine and other stone fruits, and the signature DFH brown sugar malt quality. This is a major hop fix. Hop flavor is spicy, cheesy and somewhat catty. A juicy citrus quality develops with time. Despite the comparably low IBU’s advertised, this beer leaves me with the strongest hop impression of the three DFH "Minute" beers. Resinous flavor and feel. Has some noticeable residual sweetness but lacks the nice malty balance of big brother 90 Minute.
