COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Johnny Cask has entered the building! We’ve retrofitted a 15 barrel tank to perfectly produce a very special cask conditioned ale (so, we have a little time to play around during winters at the Delaware coast). This beer, known as Dogfish Head 75 Minute IPA is a blend of 60 and 90 Minute IPAs with a special whole leaf cascade dry-hopping session. Post-hopping the beer gest transferred into firkins and dosed with fresh yeast and maple syrup from the ole family homestead (actually the first batch will be re-fermented with maple syrup from the farm up the road from ours since ours won’t be ready until late March.

Only the ratings for bottles and single-cask pours of this should be rated. The 50/50 blends of 60 and 90 where they come from different taps are not rateable, and do not belong here.

UPDATED: NOV 9, 2012 Pour out of 750 mL bottle is hazy orange-red with big thick white head, lacing and lasting for a long time, at least 3-4 fingers worth, lacing fairly well. Aroma has some notes of lemon, biscuit, some pine and grass notes, little to no maple syrup but a bit light on the nose, with a slight mineral note as well. Taste is completely different however, some nice grapefruit and orange notes with a big maple syrup note in the middle, some slight caramel, finishing fairly sweet but with a slight lemony bitter.

Pours a slightly hazy golden orange with a massive white head and tremendous lacing. Appearance is top notch. Smell is slightly subdued orange peel and pine hops with some caramel sweetness. Mo maple though. And not an in your face aroma. Taste is more smooth citrus with the maple actually making an appearance. Not my favorite IPA but interesting in it’s own right and just a really nice beer overall.

750 ml bottle, stamp on bottle says bottled in 2012D 14:52. Served in a nonic pint glass, the beer pours a hazy dark gold color with a couple inch frothy off-white head. The head stays around a very long time, and there’s a good amount of lacing left on the glass. Aroma is nice, it smells like citrusy (orange peel, tropical fruit, grapefruit) and pine hops, and caramel and sweet malt. It tastes just like the aroma, like citrusy and pine hops, caramel and sweet malt. I didn’t notice any maple when I first started drinking this brew but once I let the beer settle for a while, the maple did become noticeable in both the aroma and flavor (but it wasn’t strong at all). Mouthfeel/body is medium, it’s creamy and slick with high but soft carbonation. I think this is a good overall beer. I have another bottle that I’m going to age for a while to see how it changes. Definitely worth a try at $7.99 a bottle.

Location: 750 ml bottle from jcos, 3/23/12

Aroma: The nose has some floral hops to it, citrus, grapefruit, caramel, and a little bit of pepper
Appearance: It pours a slightly cloudy orange color with a thick, foamy white head and heavy lacing
Flavor: The flavor has a fairly similar hop profile (mostly in the finish) to the nose, in addition, it has a bit of a woody/ tree sap feel, with some caramel malty sweetness, and just a hint of the honey
Palate: The body is medium-full, it has a slightly creamy and sticky feel, and some plus carbonation
Overall Impression: Thanks, Kramer! This was a pretty enjoyable beer. I like what they did here, and I thought it worked pretty well. The complexity comes out a little more in the flavor then is does in the nose, but there is definitely some nice complexity here.

Bottle from Wegman’s split with my wife while watching the Jersey shore reunion show. Pours a a mostly opaque golden straw with with nice head that lingers. nose is mild with brown sugar, first sip is malty with a a slit piney hop flavor, finish is citrus. a little underwhelming.

Mellow on the nose, slight bitterness on th finish. Huge aroma. It really is somewhere between the 60 and 90 in flavor. I’m glad it comes in a bomber, I need another glass.

Bottle @ Dan’s house. Hazy, golden orange appearance with a big, off white head. Rich piney, a bit sappy hoppy, somewhat spicy, caramelized aroma with hints of light citrus fruits. A bit syrupy, light maple, sappy, caramel, piney, orange citrusy hoppy flavor. Pretty easy drinking.

Poured into a Russian River tulip. Produces almost three finger’s worth of dense, foamy, white head. Body is a slightly cloudy honey orange. Looks great. Good addition of spicy hops on the nose and some earthy maple sweetness. Flavor is syrupy sweet malts with a nice hop addition on the finish to cut the sweetness. However, the end result is kind of odd. There’s definitely more to this beer than just a blend of 60 & 90 minute. Body is foamy with some decent weight to it. Spritzy carbonation. Would probably be a little more enjoyable with less foam. Overall, this was a fun beer to drink, but I don’t think I’ll be going back for another bottle. Still worth checking out if you like DFH.

Deep orange golden body, hazy, with a very tall, lacy off-white head. Smells a little hoppy and a little mealy and earthy. Tastes a bit sweeter than it smells with a nice pronounced bitter hop presence throughout and a dry, crisp finish. Definitely get some maple sap out of the flavor. Slight soapy hints at the end too. Lighter-bodied with a voluminous carbonation. Overall very decent. I like it better than 60min.

I searched high and low for this beer and I found the last bottle at a Total Wine. Opened it that night and it pours a huge frothy head to it, even when you pour slow it takes a while for the head to disappear. Tastes of hops, citrus, grass, and a bit of orange as well. Dogfish markets this 75-Minute IPA as a perfect in-between from their 90 Minute IPA and their 60 Minute IPA and this beer does just that. Overall a great beer, if you can find it.
