4.3 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
750 ml bottle into signature tulip glass, 2012 bottling. Pours lightly hazy golden amber color with a nice 3 finger dense off white head with incredible retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lasts. Very nice dense soapy lacing clings to the glass, with a good amount of streaming carbonation. Aromas of big grapefruit, orange zest, pine, lemon, herbal, floral, grass, caramel, bread, light maple, and light piney spiciness. Excellent aromas with great balance and hop complexity. Taste of grapefruit, orange zest, pine, lemon zest, caramel, bread, herbal, floral, grass, earth, toast, maple, and piney spiciness. Good amount of piney bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of citrus, pine, caramel, bread, toast, herbal, floral, grass, earth, maple, and spiciness on the finish for a good bit. Very nice hops flavor complexity and balance; awesome malt/hop bitterness balance; zero cloying flavors present after the finish. Medium carbonation and body; with a lightly creamy, slick, sticky, and very crisp mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is very well hidden with only a slight warming noticed after the finish. Overall this is a highly excellent IPA! Great hop complexity and malt flavor balance with the maple syrup; extremely smooth and crisp to sip on. A highly enjoyable offering as I expected.

I liked this one a lot more back in the day. Itís more malty than I remember. Itís still good even though Iím sending mixed messages. For some reason, I only drink this for breakfast, lunch, or brunch. Never for dinner, supper, or lupper.

4.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 19/20
This beer had a little too much maple on the nose for me, I was nervous.
The taste was pretty damn excellent. I am a huge fan of DFHís 90 and I enjoy the 60 time to time and the 75ís maple taste adds something that puts it on a level closer to 90 minute.
There is a complexity and balance in this which gives it more character than many IPAs in its price range, and the slight maple touch sets it apart from anything else I can recall in this style

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
HUGE white foamy suds. Clear golden color. Strong hoppy aroma at the bottle and a bit sweeter in the glass. Strong carbonation and heavy weight on the palate. Fruity aftertaste.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
750ml bottle into a shaker glass; served cold.
Aroma: Orange and grapefruit hops. A teeny bit of sweetness.
Appearance: Somewhat hazy, golden body with a thick, foamy, white head. Quite nice lacing.
Taste: Just the right amount of hops. A bit of malt and sweetness rounds it out. Just nice and well-rounded.
Palate: Medium bodied, high amount of carbonation. Moderate length on the finish, and ends on a gentle hop kiss.
Overall: Quite a fine beer. Well rounded flavors with nice structure. Not overly bitter, but doesnít skimp on hops.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
poured into a tulip glass, large frothy white head continues to stay afloat. small bubbles rise rapidly to the surface. the beer is a beautiful pumpkin orange that is slightly clear.
some caramel notes are present in the aroma, floral hop notes seem to follow with a hop sweetness associated with oranges lingers though, some alcohol finishes out the aroma,
high levels of carbonation take away some of the flavors which would be more present. The bottle i had may be a bit dated. the hop flavor comes off oxidized. some stronger maltyness than thought would be expected.
overall its something i wish i had fresh. thinking of blending 60 and 90 with maple syrup sounds really great. i would have thought some oxidation would have made this taste a bit like aged brown sugga, sadly it did not. i would definitely try this one again. it wasnít overly complex like so many df beers can be which i enjoyed.

4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
Pours a dark beau golden color with a thick white head. Aroma is slightly bitter hops, with a light, subtle hint of maple syrup. Taste is citrus, hops, malty, maple syrup witch supports the flavor appropriately. Superb

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
750mL bottle, just capped, Bottled On 10/31/2013. Oh. I thought this was fresher than that. Oh. Thatís what I get for not checking more carefully. Nose on open is ebulliently hoppy, lots of orange peel, with heavy caramel and pine, touch of grapefruit and somewhat more general (and awesome) rindiness, and barrel effects. Pours yellow and evens into a more golden-orange in the glass, supports and dense and creamy eggshell head, medium carb. Taste is dry, astringent, medium-strong in bitterness, sharp with a touch too-much alcohol showing. Very crisp medium body, has a lot of the regular IPAsí hop character with just a touch of wood to blend and mellow (like 20% of the taste), without taking away from what is still aggressive and somewhat coarse hopping. Dry with a scoop of resin and oil. Caramel malt is a bit thin but there is some prickling spice, I know not whether from the hops or barrel or syrup addition. On the whole, probably a bit more roughnecked than Iíd have liked, but of good quality.
