ALCOHOLNIZM (59), WARWICK, USA Jun 21, 2009 THIS IS ONE OF MY FAVORITE BEERS ,ITS CLOUDY GOLDEN IN COLOR WITH LITTLE HEAD, SMELLS OF DELICIOUS GRAPEFRUIT AND HOPS, TASTES OF PERFECT SWEET BITTERNESS , INCREDIBLY ENJOYABLE AT 9% ALC CONTENT IT GOES DOWN AMAZINGLY SMOOTH . IF THIS CAME IN 99 CENT 22 OZ BOTTLES THE WORLD WOULD BE HOOKED! AND DRUNK!! jodah52 (47), Michigan, USA Jun 19, 2009 Gorgeous orangey-brown color, small lacy head. Deep, sweet malt aroma is cut by mild yet distinct hop aroma. Flavor is similar; strong malt flavors - sweet and caramel, but with a distinctive flavor of coffee and brandy - with good hop bitterness and very complex character. Finish of raspberries. Excellent. Allen (1282), Switzerland Jun 17, 2009 Updated: Jul 11, 2009Bottle 355ml from crackedkettle.com. Celebrating my 1000th rating. A flawless, deeply pleasant Imperial IPA. All the great components of the style showing up in both nose and taste; both having also interesting hints of quinces and coffee (the latter being unusual for the style) but really integrating well. Strong bitterness. Incredibly enjoyable. Quite a lot of coffee showing up in the finish. Wonderful! Aggy360 (115), Anchorage/ Vista,CA, Alaska, USA Jun 16, 2009 Bottle. This poured a nice copper color with golden yellow hues. Very, very thin white head (could have been my pour), with light lace. The aroma is beautiful. Strong notes of caramel, nuts, sweet malt and fruit. The taste is about the same but a great hop bitterness is present. The mouthfeel is a bit resiny with good body, a little chewy. Very nice finish, the hop bitterness follows through to the end and all the way down. There is slight alcohol character in the finish, that let’s you know it is a 9%er. Overall a great Imperial IPA, that orders to be drank again and again. direwolf9 (29), Dallas, Texas, USA Jun 16, 2009 Was never a big fan of the IPA’s as many of them load up on the hops which just overpowers everything else. This beer however has managed to maintain a really nice balance of hops and malts that just taste great. The bitterness is not overwhelming and the finish is very clean. Cirrhosis (607), Edmonton, Alberta, Canada Jun 16, 2009 "The word yummy gets tossed around a lot these days, and I truly have no clue where I’m going with this statement except to say this beer is yummy. Burnt orange, clear body with a thick off white floating on to. Impressive lacing and retention for a beer of 9%. Awesome hopy aroma, sweet candy peaches, tons of citrus, leathery malts. Flavour is also awesome nice and malty, leather, toasted wood, and the hops are insane giving a almost un rivaled bitterness. Not a single trace of alcohol making this relatively easy to drink, the carbonation gives the mouth feel a very nice spice. So much sweet peach flavour, pine, citrus, this has it all. The intense bitterness lingers for a long time in the back of your throat. I could drink these all day if I wasn’t afraid of ending up in a alcohol induced coma that is."
cprochak (388), Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA Jun 16, 2009 Bottle from Bottleworks. Great grapefruit hops aroma. Pours a clear orange with light white head. Tastes very sweet with citrus and honey, with only slight bitterness. A bit syrupy, but a clean finish. Tommyp007 (27), Kingsport, Tennessee, USA Jun 15, 2009 Finally tried one of these in bottle a few weeks ago. Probably the first Imperial I can remember, and it was a great one. Maybe a little strong, but i can see why the ratings are so high. Will try again for sure.
