Berley31 (107), New Brunswick, Canada Jun 14, 2009 Bottle. Poured with an average-sized, white head and a clear body, with nice lacing. Nice, golden-copper color. The aroma hits you like a ton of bricks - light malt and yeast, heavy hops, and quite heavy on the alcohol... but in a good way. Light melon aroma as well. Great on the palate: medium body, average carbonation, with a bitter finish. As for the flavor, this beer is more alive than most I’ve tried. Lightly sweet, quite bitter, but not at all overpowering, and while you can taste the alcohol, you wouldn’t necessarily guess that it’s a 9% ABV. There’s so much going on in this beer it’s hard to put it in words. I’ve never been a huge IPA fan but this was quite the experience. btgpdx (9), USA does not count Jun 12, 2009 citrus and floral aromas, beautiful orange/amber color, fantastic flavor with a great combo of american style IPA with european undertones. wonderful. Hophead1977 (10), , Connecticut, USA Jun 11, 2009 Great beer, that I drink quite often. Pours dark amber, with about a finger width head. Very hoppy, with decent malty flavor. Better served warm, or enjoyed over a long period of time, as it warms it gets better. steez (2), Georgia, USA does not count Jun 11, 2009 Bottle. Initial aroma was hoppy raspberrys.
Interesting and complex for an IPA. Pour was amber and head was a bit weak. At first taste it seemed a little boozy but was followed by another shortly thereafter. a little on the sweet side but drinkable for sure. finol (474), Nacka (Stockholm), Sweden Jun 10, 2009 Bottle bought about a year ago.
Pours hazy amber.
Hopps, butter and malty aroma.
Tastes malty with candy hops, there are hardly any citrus hops left.
I think it is a great quality mark for an IIPA that it still is a interesting even when the fresh hops are gone.
bobbypaulson (100), , Minnesota, USA Jun 9, 2009 Pours amber with a nice thin head. Citrus notes and a very smooth mouth feel. Taste of grapefruit and evergreen. Very balanced considering the alcohol level. Very drinkable. R6master (15), Texas, USA Jun 8, 2009 Not my personal favorite. Taste is very blunt and stays in your mouth even after. Bitter yet sweet. Too sweet for me. Kind of a chocolaty taste. amg800 (34), Ada, Michigan, USA Jun 8, 2009 Freshy hoppy aroma, amber hue in the glass, tastes just like it smells... delicious!
