MeisterBrew (138), Cheyenne, Wyoming, USA Jun 7, 2009 Bottle. Pours a clear golden-amber with a large off-white head. Aroma of pine, citrus, and sweet fruit...pineapple? Flavor ia very rich. Nice and citrusy; with a great sweet backside that really evens out the flavor. Great IIPA! Definitely my favorite east coast hoppy ale. dimenhetfield (157), , Florida, USA Jun 7, 2009 Hands down the best IPA I’ve ever had. Until I try the 120 minute IPA aged for like 2 or 3 years (which I’m in the process of doing right now) this one is King. Has an awesome aroma and an incredible drinkable flavor. Highly recommend. hirigalzkar (550), Stockholm, Sweden Jun 7, 2009 Bottle. One year old bottle. Still very good. Not many IPA:s can say that. The large ammount of barley and malts makes this beer into a round hoppy barley wine after a year in the cellar. Will try this one fresh soon. bedainedebiere (274), Terrebonne, Quebec, Canada Jun 5, 2009 Updated: Sep 4, 2009Almost an entire bottle at Montreal Mondial de la biere. Impressive deliciously knocking beer, hop in many dimensions of the taste, caramelised-malt sweetness. Hop-head world-wide wonder, second best DIPA I had. I could drink only that beer and forget all the others! And to say I had a (really) bad opinion about that boring Delaware State before knowing this brewer. But there’s no way I’m going back there; export those beers! vtafro (452), , New Jersey, USA Jun 5, 2009 Updated: Jul 1, 2009Bottle. Great beer, IPA that pairs well with anything and is delicious for this high of an abv. jumpjet2k (136), Austin, Texas, USA Jun 4, 2009 Bottle. A nice dark coppery red and a thin white head. Aroma is rich with resin, dark honey and plum. Rich caramel malty flavor is overlaid by citrusy, piney hops and finishes into a pleasant piney bitterness. Smooth and finely carbonated. Really more like a barleywine than an IIPA, given the high ABV, but it’s exquisitely balanced and packed to the brim with wonderful flavor. It’s a classic for a reason. NosirIwont (1162), Aalborg Vestby, Denmark Jun 3, 2009 Bottle. Pours a clear golden with a thick, fluffy off-white head. Nice lacing. Strong, sweet and spicy hop aroma with malt. As it warms, it becomes more heavy on the sweet malts; cloying. Flavour is malts with a candy-like sweetness. Hops roaming around somewhere in the background, but not very outspoken. Has some similarities with a Belgian strong ale; a blend of alcohol, brandy and plums. But the sweet malts reminds me more of a overly sweet brown ale. Finish is grassy, and quite sweet and malty. Cloying. Develops some liquorice notes as it warms. Faint spicy notes lingering. Not very bitter; a medium bitterness lingering. Soft palate. Interesting, but too cloying for the style and could do with more hops. 03-06-09. Savvy1982 (303), Lethbridge, Alberta, Canada Jun 2, 2009 Pours a surprisngly clear rich copper color, with a thick, pillowy white head, with OK lacing, but nothing special. Aroma is all N American hops, with the classic grapefruitiness of Cascade, add to that pine resin, spruce boughs, crystal malt, and fresh cedar. Palate starts surprisngly sweet, then ends up quite sour in the finish, which is a sensation I thoroughly enjoy. Pine, grapefruit, malt, lemon, apples, with surprisingly restrained hops, although you get all of the character. No booziness or alcohol, very, very well done. My favorite example of my favorite style.
