TheBigSmooth (8), California, USA does not count May 24, 2009 This is one of my go to beers. When I go to the local beer and wine store to find a satisfying brew and I see this glorious four pack illuminated in front of me I know all is well.
It is a hop explosion but it has a lot more going on, the after taste is a tad sweet; it is a good counter taste for the bitterness from the hops.
It is a solid beer at a decent price point and the fact that it comes in a four pack is good news for craft brew junkies who are breaking the bank exploring what is out there.
Hinez57 (129), Clinton, Mississippi, USA May 24, 2009 Can’t add much that hasn’t been said. Amazing hop experience in a bottle! Would benefit from just a slight bit more malt and perhaps some spicyness. Phenomenal anyway! metmayhem (7), Kentucky, USA does not count May 23, 2009 The best imperial ipa ever. This beer should be in the hall of fame...thanks Sam for blessing us with this 12 0unce wonder... WVHouseofBeer (332), Morgantown, West Virginia, USA May 22, 2009 A nearly perfect IPA. It smelt incredible, and the flavor was almost just as good. Maybe a little too bitter? That’s about all I can find to say that’s bad about it. mesperon (131), Jersey City, New Jersey, USA May 22, 2009 I remember tying this and not liking it, I remember it being overly bitter, with a strange flavor. Tasting it this time, on tap, it was great. Deceivingly light and clear light copper/amber with a thin cream-colored head and nice lacing. Nice aroma of floral hops, lightly herbal, hint of sweetness. Fairly thick, slightly creamy mouthfeel, mild carbonation. Quick bitter citrus bite on the front of the tongue. Quickly followed by a strong floral hop taste, with a little citrus, a hint of caramal and bready sweetness. Very very hoppy, just bitter enough to wake up the tongue, but the hop flavor easily overpowers the bitterness. Hoppy, resiny, lasting finish. Totochtin (7), Washington, USA does not count May 22, 2009 Pours a clear golden amber with a small head that quickly fades to some lacing. Pleasant grapefruity and lightly resinous aroma with some maltiness. Moderate carbonation. Flavor: a burst of tartness is quickly followed by grapefruit with an underlying malty sweetness and notes of dark fruit. This leads into a long finish of citrus peel and bitter herbal notes. Rich but crisp, complex and layered but well-integrated, this is an exquisitely balanced beer and probably my favorite IPA to date. DerWeg (748), Toronto, Ontario, Canada May 21, 2009 Creamy expansive caramel-raisiny goodness. Superficially like a richer DFH 60, Brandy-like tones of powerful fruit, aroma and taste buzzing with hops. I pour a DFH-60 as a reference, the 60 is a bit of a mess (I think the shipment got light struck, it has a petrol/match-head flavor problem) Oh well.. this 90 has an almost vanilla-cake quality in there... describe hops as citric. After-aroma of barley. Alcohol not too present in nose but very warming Bottle from Premier.
