smashweights (12), Ohio, USA Apr 17, 2009 12 oz. bottle. Pours a medium amber color with 1-finger off-white head that lingers for a bit and masks the aroma initially. Good lacing on the glass. Aroma is fruity hops, a bit of citrus fruit similar to a witbier, perhaps raisins, very faint hint of pine. Mouthfeel is very thick like a stout, a bit creamy. Flavor begins with fruity hops, smoke, pine, caramel malted barley. Trails off with building bitterness of hops, alcohol, pine, and a faint hint of citrus hops. Definitely a complex shifting of flavors in the aftertaste. My new favorite IPA! Zaprozdower (41), Boone, North Carolina, USA Apr 17, 2009 Based on the hype, I was actually a little disappointed here. The apperance in particular is top notch and the aroma is also superb. Has a very nice chewy mouthfeel. Its the taste that lets me down a little bit. I think perhaps a different combo of hops might have served better here. I prefer the Weyenbacher Double Simcoe to this really. But I wont complain, just probably wont seek it out again for the price. Mdgutows (42), Charlotte, North Carolina, USA Apr 17, 2009 This is simply one of the best beers in the world. Citrus and grassy hops are the stars. Extremely well balanced and totally sexy. A must try. Nightfall (645), Athens, Greece Apr 16, 2009 Just finished the 35,5cl Bottle. Pours a nice amber with small head. Hoppy nose with citric fruits and grass.Flavor balances well the sweet malts and bitter hops. Lasting aftertaste and nice bitter finish. GweedoeBrew (3), USA does not count Apr 16, 2009 Honestly... I continue to think.. year in and year out that this is one of the best beers I have ever tasted... I even limit myself to getting a pint only now and then... so that I don’t get used to it... Whenever I am at the British Beer Company in Pembroke... I always ask for one (most of the time they have it)... Great Beer... great everything about it... The Prefect Imperial IPA! xnoxhatex (1305), Grand Rapids/Chicago, Michigan, USA Apr 16, 2009 3yr old, thanks to Holdenn. Hazy orange with medium white head. Slight sherry oxidation and caramel. Vegetable, caramel flavor, slight hops, alc, oxidation. Medium body, light carbonation. Oxidized, meh. Love this beer fresh, actually kind of surprised I’ve never rated it before. Will have to get a bottle soon. alexsdad06 (1056), Ohio, USA Apr 13, 2009 12 oz. bottle. I have had this many times over the years and just realized that I had not entered a rating. Pours clear amber in color with a medium sized creamy off white head. The aroma has a nice dose of hops (citrus, grapefruit, tropical fruit) and sweet malts. The flavor is more malt forward than many DIPA’s, but does have a hop presence. The sweet malts are up front with grapefruit and citrus hops leading the way to a nice bitterness in the finish. Medium/full bodied. joeneugs (282), Livermore, California, USA Apr 12, 2009 Orange amber in color with a small off white head. It has a surprisingly sweet aroma of orange, pineapple, and alcohol. Sweet flavor as well with candied fruit, brown sugar, and then the bitter hops in the finish. A little over the top for me, but still a unique Double IPA.
