jmulv (76), Rensselaer, New York, USA Feb 11, 2009 Served on tap at my college’s pub, this is a go-to on a Thursday night. For an IPA fan, it really doesn’t get much better than this. Citrusy, hop-filled, and goes down smooth leaving a delightful aftertaste. One of the best. bconley (351), Fern Park, Florida, USA Feb 11, 2009 Tap at Mellow Mushroom. This is easily one of my faves because it’s so easy to find. Great sweet citrusy hops with great mouthfeel. Very evergreen smell and taste. Awesome. BroSpud (583), , Massachusetts, USA Feb 9, 2009 On tap. This is probably the best of the "double" style IPAs I have tasted. It is worth seeking out a location that has it on tap. In my case I found it on tap at my local British Beer Company restaurant. Have also tasted from bottle and would score that option slightly lower yet still very, very good. lakersfan16 (53), Anchorage, Alaska, USA Feb 8, 2009 12 oz. bottle.
Pours amber in color with a good amount of white head. Aroma is very strong of citrus and hops. Taste of lemon, pine hops, and malt. Medium bodied, very complex. Very good IPA. PaulHegedus (458), Georgetown, Ontario, Canada Feb 8, 2009 Bottle. This is a hazy amber colour in a tulip glass with a generous head. There is a decent amount of lacing on the glass and good head retention. The strong hop aroma has plenty of floral character, dense and complex: there’s some pine, fruit, breadiness. The mouthfeel is nice and full, oily, and very smooth, approachable. I taste an initial sweetness, plenty of citrus in the hops: orange, lemon. A big, bitter kick. Once again, quite complex: pine, bread, plenty of raisin. Wonderful. altonbrownd (1862), Amsterdam, Netherlands Feb 8, 2009 Cracked Kettle. Fantastic IPA. Amber body with slight, fast-receding head. Hoppy and citrus nose. Taste of hops and pine, lemon. Citrus chews through. A distinctive and solid IPA. First class. BrotherGrendel (545), San Diego (La Jolla), California, USA Feb 8, 2009 A- Rich, caramel golden hue, thin layer of white head that dissipates, minimal lacing
S- Pine and citrus hops, grass and floral tones, bread malts, alcohol, somewhat subdued for this style
T- Initial taste is unsurprisingly pine and floral hops, pale bread malts enter soon after, finishes oily and very bitter, a truly delicious beer
M- Medium/full-bodied, oily and chewy texture, moderate carbonation
D- Balanced and complex profile, the alcohol is well-masked, this is my favorite non-West coast DIPA and I can drink this all night long mikalooch (158), , New Jersey, USA Feb 7, 2009 Bottle. Pours amber with a nice white head, long lasting lacing. Aroma is hops, pine, and citrus. Flavor is hops, pine, lemon, malt, and simple syrup. Medium mouthfeel, just right on the carbonation. Top notch.
